No to any new goaltenders coming in. Play the Leafs goalie of the future and Samsonov. Why overpay for goaltending that's on the downside of their careers? Hellybuck has already plateaued and the cap hit is too much. Just shore up the defense, trade Willy to get what you need. Dip into free agency for a top 6 winger. Leafs are in need of sandpaper and if you can get AM34 back into the fold, the team will still be a contender. Also, axe Keefe. Sign Accari and Schenn for sure!

I agree on the goalies. Those veteran goalies are so flaky that you really don’t know what to expect.
- shack67
Samsonov and Woll are trending up in their careers. Chicago won 3 Cups with average goaltending. Get a bigger, tougher defense and retool the forwards. If you get Matthews under contract, you still have 2 years of Marner and Tavares plus Knies looks like a top 6 player coming in. We can't afford Willy for $10M a year long term. Use a trade to shore up a preferably Right Hand defenseman. You can also use the money after not signing Kerfoot, Holl, etc. to get another top 6 on the cheap. O'Reilly for not more than $5M X 3. If he goes elsewhere, someone like Monahan makes sense.

Only resign Samsonov if he asks for roughly the same amount. If he wants to go through arbitration for a 3 year deal for over $3 million a year then bye bye.

ROR won’t be back, he’ll supposedly land $6+ million in a cheaper place to live. The primary prediction is Colorado since they need a a 2C so they’ll pay it out.

You’re hatred alone makes me want the leafs to sign him for 8 years. I don’t care about his talent level at this point

I'll become a less than part time watcher, then. 'Cause clearly the Leafs wouldn't be serious about actually getting better.

I was one of the few people on here that defended Holl all year, but his play in the playoffs was atrocious. How are you on the ice for like 80% of the goals against?!? He gotta go.

You could let Samsonov go and use up Murray's contract for one more year. Hopefully, at the end of this process, Woll becomes the defacto number 1 and backfill with a cheaper alternative a year from now. Every dollar saved on the cap gives the team more flexibility going forward. When Marner's deal is up, Tavares deal will end. Time to start developing some cheaper replacements going forward.

Oh he won’t get resigned. Not unless it’s super cheap which is the opposite thing his agent will be looking for.

That’s kind of my thoughts. Let Sammy walk, make Woll the primary starter with Murray as the backup. If Murray gets hurt meh, call up Kallgren and roll with the two kids who are A: the cheaper option and B: who have both proven they can play at the NHL level

That's a relief. Like others have said, I think he lands somewhere for $3M and hopefully its in our division, but more than likely Edmonton

I'm guessing that Timmins is his replacement. The Leafs gave him a 2 year deal at low cost. This guy just needs to play. He was injured, early in his career and it stunted his growth as a full time NHL player. With proper usage, this guy could be the answer on the 3rd defensive pairing. He does have good offensive skills, something that you can't teach. Having a good defensive coach might round out his game. He's not small and can skate. Maybe Gio as the 7th defenseman could teach him how to play the pro game.

Ageed. The Leafs could go prospect hunting and add to their depth in the AHL. Who knows? Maybe draft someone this year, with one of their two later picks. There seems to be a glut of goaltenders out there.

I’m all for Timmins as well but relying on both him and Liljegren in the lineup would be a tad spooky.

If they sign Schenn

Rielly Schenn
McCabe Brodie
Gio/Liljegren/Timmins

If Brodie has another off season that right side is a tad gutsy to roll with.

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking as well. I like Samsonov but I wouldn’t want to give him anything more than another “prove yourself” contract

Have you chosen who you plan to blame this year? Still him? Even if he’s not here anymore?

Omg can you imagine he scores a winner when the leafs play whoever he signs with?

The Leafs should watch both perform during the regular season. If Timmins can play at the same level of Liljegren, then you move Liljegren at the trade deadline. Saving on the cap and an asset is important. Brodie has one more year and he's gone. Time to start looking for a replacement.

If those two play equally keep them both. Schenn is up there age wise, same with Brodie, Gio won’t be back either. If they earn their roles stick with them.
