People thought Vinny LeCavalier would be impossible to move at a time we needed the space. Vinny was even convinced to retire so we didn’t continue to carry his cap. Are you high??

Dude, please go have a conversation with someone else. How bout a tree stump since that seems to be your speed. You just never seem to be able to process my comments. My point is that this was a complicated trade made today with 3 teams involved and lots of moving parts. A salary dump trade DOESN'T COMPARE!

To be fair, how often do complicated 3 team trades actually happen?

It's just an impressive trade to me for a newly minted GM. You are probably right although it seems the better GMs are able to get these kind of deals done. Of course (as you mentioned), the only thing this trade does is give them potential. It could end up being bad in the long run depending on picks and how the prospect turns out. I guess Petersen could be a wild card cause at one point he was supposed to be the Kings goalie to replace Quick. He just fell on his face this past season.

Flyers probably didn’t care about the cap they took on knowing Hayes, Hart, and a few others are goners in the next few weeks

Anyone have any insight into this Grans kid we got from LA? A high second round pick from 2020…that’s all I got on him.

Been a long time. Hope everyone is well.

Total fleece job by the Flyers. Nice job Danny.

Funny thing, I joined this site the summer Drury, Gomez, and Briere were available.

I got nothing for Fletcher...

No one does cause there is nothing for Fletcher. Very well might have been the worst GM in all of professional sports the past couple of years.

lol, hope you are well.

Didn’t come around much last season, it was just so brutal.

Certainly a different group in here.

Connection:

Morgan Frost and Sean Walker workout together in offseason.

- Glak18

Lol that's great! We have to come up with something now that there's no Minnesota connection. I assume Sean is no relation to former Flyer Matt Walker? That would also be a connection and a typical Flyers move if so.

Danny B is off to a solid start.

Danny B haters in shambles already.

I really like the moves and the use of cap space since we won't be competing for a few years anyway.
If Peterson can bounce back and have a solid year we could retain a little more salary and bring in another 2nd or prospect as well

All in all its a solid start for Danny B!

- Bob Habib

Definitely a solid start for the former Flyer that doesn't deserve a chance bc Flyers are gonna Flyer. I liked Provy but it was time to move on. Hopefully Danny B can pull off some more good moves.

I'm liking this move by Danny B and hopefully like some have said, he has a few other moves up his sleeve. Now 3 teams were involved, so I need to have MJL confirm if this is considered a 3 team trade?

Completely agree. He was definitely the worst gm the flyers have had since I’ve watched the team.

Good read, makes the trade feel even a little better, 2nd round pick, right shot, good tools and development so far seems to show making the show, with 2nd pair topside. All at once with him and Attard the right side has some depth potential

Good start for Danny B, if he GMS like he played, skill, an edge to win and hockey IQ, we could have something here

there has been an uptic of these over the last few years due to the cap. so becoming more regular i would say. 20 years ago, not so much.

thanks. if ginning continues to improve we could have a good sized swedish duo. or maybe when emil comes over. Has he ever played with emil or is he just a little too old?

Seems CBJ using trades and FA to be relevant. Both Vegas and Panthers same, shows it can be a winning strategy, timed right and if you know how to build a team, not including CBJ at this point in that comment

I honestly don't remember those trades, so they must not have turned out that great. What I was referring to was the fact that this trade had to really be worked on. You have 3 teams involved with the Flyers FINALLY getting back good draft capital and a young prospect that could fill a need that they have within the organization.

Lol. The Flyers cap situation was worse than it is with Fletcher when Hextall took over and he had to clear a lot of dead weight/contracts. The 2 firsts from the Schenn trade turned into Frost and Farabee. The cap space cleared was another huge asset that doesn't show up in the box score and that people don't remember.

In a couple of years you won't remember this trade either as it's unlikely that anyone from it is going to be a star for the Flyers in the near future.

At the time it was the right move for the Flyers and I think DB's move was the right move for the Flyers today. Now let's see how those assets develop. Something the Flyers absolutely suck at.

If the picks or Grens are still playing in the AHL or playing 3rd line/pair minutes in a few years, I'm sure we'll hear about how the trade was a mistake.

Case in point, Hayden Hodgson was the last piece in a trade with roughly 7,000 parts, and CF thought enough of him to give him not only an NHL contract but one with a 2 year term. Also, do you think CF (and PH for that matter) broke into a cold sweat when he saw those second round picks coming back to Philly?

I would say the timing is completely different between then and now. The flyers team now is a carcass, we still had some prime players then, the decision was one the put us in the mud back then.

1st + 2nd + former 35th-overall 6'3 Swedish RHD? I'd be fine with that as a return.
- Tomahawk

It was a great return, 2023 1st, two 2nd round picks in 2024, plus a 2020 high 2nd round pick Helge Grans who has good upside. Not sure what else we could have hoped for. Peterson can be a good backup to Hart, which allows Ersson more time to develop in the AHL. If anyone thought Danny would be taken advantage of, you are sadly mistaken. Also, if anyone thought the Flyers were not serious about rebuilding, you are also sadly mistaken.

As I stated yesterday, you don't hire Babcock and sign a free agent like JG to rebuild. They are looking to trade their way to relevancy now.
