I'm very satisfied with the trade Briere made or maybe I am so used to lopsided bone head trades that ones that aren't complete trash make me happy...not sure yet.

Rather not have Petersen, but that was the cost to make a trade work and was compensated for it. Walker, if he can fill a role and possibly get an asset at the TDL then it becomes a winner no matter what the picks turn out to be.

- Glak18

Not a trash trade

There was surely many fans that would not take the “rebuild” process as reality until they saw action (understandable). Briere wasted no time. Looking forward to seeing the drafting and any additional moves. Should be enlightening

I didn't say mock draft...I said mock lineups.
- Glak18

I keep posting a mock line up with Carlsson in it? Was Gauthier and Foerster in these mock line ups too?

I’m telling you, it wasn’t me. I don’t know anything about Carlsson.

I don’t buy this. Center is one of, if not the most important position on the ice. We have two picks in the first round in a center heavy draft.
- SuperSchennBros

Not with the first pick though at the top of a deep first round. No reason to discount any other position because they’re not a center.

Of course, I had to backread this evening to see how folks reacted when the details of this trade first started coming in. Here is the bottom line... we have not seen a trade like this from a Flyers GM in ions! Hexy and Chuckles were incapable of putting these type of deals together. Good start Danny! Let's see what other tricks you have up your sleeve!

Extremely impressed with this trade. So many components to it.

1. Getting an nhl worthy right handed dman back that balances out our pairings

2. Clearing out 2 contract slots of players that have zero future here

3. Getting a look at a young prospect for the ahl team to see if there’s anything there.

The minor cap bump helped Danny get top dollar back here. But there’s no doubt Danny worked at this. No doubt he utilized the leverage available to him with these teams.

My lord what a breath of fresh air. Fletcher couldn’t fathom a deal like this. Wouldn’t even dream of it.

It's one move, that I like, by a new GM, but let's see how he does over a larger period of time. All he needs to do is one really bad trade and people will be calling for his head and calling him one of the old boys.

Been a long time. Hope everyone is well.

Total fleece job by the Flyers. Nice job Danny.

Funny thing, I joined this site the summer Drury, Gomez, and Briere were available.

Ok, but I remember specifically it was you. No, Gauthier was not, but Foerster was.

The top 10-12 are mostly listed as centers anyway, maybe a couple who are listed as wingers. Either way there's only a few franchise centers at the top and they will be long gone before the Flyers pick. Benson is listed as a C/LW, but he will be, and others, better off on the wing in the NHL.

Hextall couldn't?

Radko Gudas? Brayden Schenn? That's a couple off top of head.

Jesus dude…

Hextall got rid of the Pronger dead cap hit. He also got rid of Vinny and Luke Schenn together. Hextall’s specialty was creating cap space. The Brayden Schenn trade got us two first’s.

I honestly don't remember those trades, so they must not have turned out that great. What I was referring to was the fact that this trade had to really be worked on. You have 3 teams involved with the Flyers FINALLY getting back good draft capital and a young prospect that could fill a need that they have within the organization.

Hextall traded Coburn for:

Radko Gudas
2015 1st round pick (TBL - #29 - Gabriel Carlsson)
2015 3rd round pick (TBL - #90 - Matej Tomek)

That's pretty good.

Schenn Trade:
Jori Lehterä
2018 1st round pick (STL - #14 - Joel Farabee) [Conditional]
2017 1st round pick (WSH - #27 - Morgan Frost)

Say what you want about Schenn, but then and now that is great value.

What did Briere do with his picks? Oh yeah they haven't been picked yet so they can't be trashed on....

Drafts matter, ask the Rangers, their 2 lotto picks have not come to fruition to date. I think, we hope Cutter hits and I think, we hope this draft is all they say it is.

I could see the Flyers trying to move up, don’t see it but if they can get another first and a second this draft that would be good. Another 1st next draft and a 2nd this draft would be 2nd choice.

Trade Hayes, trade Laughton, Seeler, and one of TK or Hart

Man, another season of just watching the regular season, here we come

I stand corrected. I thought Hexy drafted Frost and O'Brien with those picks. Anyway, it's still been quite sometime since a trade like this has been consummated by a Flyers GM.

I’m sorry, I put the Pronger, Vinny and Luke Schenn deals right up there in terms of creating cap space.

People thought Vinny LeCavalier would be impossible to move at a time we needed the space. Vinny was even convinced to retire so we didn’t continue to carry his cap. Are you high??

Yea the Vinny deal defied logic. Definitely A feather in his cap however Vinny proclaimed he would retire after one season with LA. Much easier for LAK to consummate that deal

Some trades are all about timing...Pronger and Vinny are examples of bad timing. Great players, but got on the down swing. Pronger had his injury, but still happens more when older.

Now perfect trades are like Richards and Carter. They both won cups, but their most productive seasons offensively were before they were traded and neither one came close to matching their best after the trade.
