Why would he put himself in a much worse position than just to try to be as strong on his skates as he can be? To me he seemed to have forgotten how to skate, or he was trying to sell a dirty hit too soon.

It's been a month now and I still can't believe we lucked into Bedard.

Eichel put his head up, saw he was lined up and tried to adjust his position. I’m sure he didn’t mean to fall forward, but it’s not like he had even a second to make a decision. Had he taken the hit without bailing out it’s unlikely he’s playing in the third period and perhaps the remainder of the series.

I was thinking the same yesterday. I figured they would be choosing second to fourth, but hoping they’d win the lottery.

If I was ADB, I wouldn’t sign anything until after the season when (supposedly) the cap is supposed to go up significantly. More clubs able to buy d for his services.
- LAHawk

If the cap actually goes up significantly which I highly doubt, so will the escrow.

If Michkov is gone before #8 I can see Washington parting with #8+ for DeBrincat.
- DarthKane

Put him back with Strome and he scores 50.

I didn’t say he was good at taking a dive. He saw the train coming one second before it hit then defensively and instinctly reacted the best he could to avoid the shoulder. Live to play another day.
Spoiled brats like Eichel, much like Matthews) aren’t used to being targeted. Eichel will have alligator arms the rest of the series. Smart play by son of Keith

The replays down here showed his left skate toe-picking just before the crash. I also thought he was hanging his right arm a bit on the way off.

I thought from the way he left the ice that he’d hurt his shoulder. I was surprised to see him return to the ice. But he is a hockey player and not a soccer, baseball or basketball player …

Who ever heard of a little appendectomy keeping a hockey player out.

The best players are in fact targeted, Bedard was targeted in the WHL and in the world juniors. Eichel, Matthews, McDavid, Kane etc., were all targeted throughout their amateur and pro careers. The reason they are seldom hit is because of their awareness on the ice and in most cases play with their heads up. Eichel uncharacteristically had his head down on that play. And Eichel came back and played right in the thick of things. And yes it was a very smart hard play on Tkachuk’s part.

Why is WSH the place where everyone pegs Russian players to get drafted? Just Ovi?
- Chunk

For me its not the Russian factor. Washington needs a dynamic forward who can drive the team's offense when Ovi is gone. This draft is the most likely year the Caps will select a prospect to fill that role #8 is the best chance they'll have in a long time.

The Russian factor may cause Michkov to slip to #8, but I still think that's a long shot. I don't think he gets past Arizona at #6.

Corey Pronman finally did a draft piece I think is honest good and not ( as he seems to say every other sentence in his other stuff) "scouts have told me..."

That was a solid targeted hit, he had the puck, and Eichel saw it coming.
I was watching the Canada Feed.
They remarked how Eichel didn't see the player change of the rampaging #19 and when he did he choose to fall forward instead on backwards and got man-handled.

You saw when Peterborough was losing in the Memorial Cup, how their team decided they had to make a physical statement after the game was out of reach.

As long as I hav been going, this has been a very common response in playoff series, because you want the victor to think about it next game.

I thought I had grown above taking joy in these type big hits but this one please me so, because I always thought Eichel was non-vocal B-list NHLer who wasn't captain material, and his trade demand in Buffalo was self motivated, and he hadn't done enough to be considered an A list NHLer where his team had rot accommodate his desires, like the Hawks will be when Bedard gets tired of losing...hopefully not.

So I love the guys I think need a wake up call get them.

I didn't want his neck to fall apart, but it sure looked sweet as he looked like he dislocated his shoulder...cause I has less respect for his leadership and play, and loves me some Tkachuk leadership.

I, too, wonder if Eichel can change my opinion of him by leading, or will we "not see him all night."

Let’s relax and hope he’s half as good as Kane. Setting the bar astronomically high guarantees disappointment especially on this site.

I have been on the road, family reunions on both sides, in Hot Springs, St. Piers, MO, Canton, MO on to mid-illinois and then a wedding celebration in Indian near Peru.

It has given me time to thing about the impending Bedard 2nd contract, and it terms of the bevy of extra picks, it would be easy to use the left overs that have not been traded to move around to target players who the scouting staff see on different trajectories to turn pro, like they did with big Sam Rinzel last time.

Select Euros and North Americans who they know are in process and will turn pro at different times, thereby using them as call ups and fillers as they roster starts to need cap and they do start subtracting and need the bottom Cap end fillers. These guys would fit and allow less chance of losing young guys en masse, like Winnipeg Jets did in Morrisey, Patrik Laine, Jake trout, etc.

Honestly, cannot do that, because he is really too much to handle, there is too much desire to train wreck this kid.

Just imagine how pissed the other fan bases will be when the Hawks win the draft lottery again next year.

Welp. The Cup final has been a little disappointing for me. I was pulling for Florida since they knocked out the big dogs out east. But from watching the game last night, Vegas is just firing on all cylinders. Giving outlets to their own guys under pressure, 1st to loose pucks, blocking shots. Some big time goaltending. Hell, this thing could be over by Saturday.

Then we get to see if Kyle Davidson has anything special in the oven this off season. I don't think there will be any shockers like last year only because I don't know if there is really much value left on the team or if that is something he wants to do again.

It's going to be interesting to see how and who KD adds around Bedard (if they take him at 1 OA).
