That was C Jones not S Jones I referenced

I don’t imagine any team moves a good man despite $6.75M per year as this is a reasonable salary to pay. Moreover, Provorov is relatively young and has plenty of experience. So I figured dissatisfaction emmanating out of Philly with Provorov was based on his not worth the salary. I am really guessing more than based upon factual proof if YOU can be witness to the eye test.

So go ahead and say Provorov is pretty good and Philly should not need to move him. If you see the Flyers play each year,,then you would know more than myself just how good is the Russian dman

Looking at the situation in Philly, this move and what they are rumored to be doing, I would say that PHI is looking to do what the Hawks started last year. They took on a garbage goalie contract, to pick up two higher draft picks and Sean Walker. None of those moves are to help the team now.

Additionally, there has been talk (yes, I know anyone can make stuff up) that they are considering trading Hart, and Hayes. These aren't moves a team that wants to win now makes. Did the Hawks think that ADB was not worth his contract, or was he a means to acquire as many high end assets as possible?

For those that don't like the extra advertisements and gimmicks, etc the league is employing, I thought this was at least some good justification.

NHL sponsorship revenue surged 21% to $1.28 billion this season, powered by spending on new “digitally enhanced dasherboards,” an expanded field of league advertisers and jersey sponsor patches, according to a new report from SponsorUnited, which noted that “professional hockey is having a moment.”

It also mentions that the cap is only going up $1M this year as the players pay back the remainder of the escrow (although I'm not sure if that is the only reason?)

I understand that marketing and making $$$ is a priority
But hands off the sweaters
It is ugly and nasty when you take a look at a EuroTrash team's hockey jersey. Generally in all sports in Europe they turn the jersey into absolute trash.

I love that Bedard said Nate Danielson was the hardest defender at forward he's played against...

I heard that as well. Described him a fast and all over him.

Yeh and then when it bleeds further on to the rinks as well ... why bother even having a sporting event- just have a billboard.

I get that it is irritating, but I'm all for almost anything to grow the game. If they stagnate, the product on the ice will suffer the most.

Once the game gets going, I don't even notice most of the ads anyway.

I agree
They have commercials during the game,in between periods, during the pre-game and post-game, and for whatever reason that isn't enough.

When KD is filling out his roster I hope he gets someone that can play in front of the net on the power play. With Bedard, Reichel and S. Jones the first PP unit could be interesting to watch. I guess Raddysh and T. Johnson are the defaults right now. But an upgrade would be welcome. It could be a big, strong, middle six player that might not be too fast of a skater. Maybe Dach or the #19 pick this year could be that person in a couple of years. But they need someone until they are ready.

Unpopular opinion... Anders Bjork. Or heck, if they want to try and salvage the kid, throw Regulas big ass in there. He apparently did quite well there in London.

Another fun fact is AA and Domi are represented by the same agent, Darren Farris. Farris also represents Ricco favorite UFA Evan Rodrigues.

I've always wondered, does this really matter all that much? I'd assume that most agents worth their salt have a decent roster of clients and some will inevitably be on the same team. Would an agent really work to get two of his clients on the same team? Does that benefit him in some way? Asking honestly.

Just that it appears Farris and KD have a good working relationship, and if it benefits his clients, Farris could give Domi and any of his other UFA’s Chicago as a top option.

Seems like thus far KD has been pretty amiable to work with. Only guy I can think of that may have an issue with him is Dubas.

This is an interesting question. I would frame it differently. Think of the commitment they would have to make to keep him. Max contract, $9 mill or maybe more. How does such a marriage pact fit into a rebuild? They got a top 10 pick out of the deal. Had they waited until the deadline to deal him, they are getting a late first. ADB is a goal scorer, and not so much a 200 foot player. A nice player to have on a winning team, but probably not a player to build a franchise around. In the meantime, it will be very interesting to see how Ottawa handles his situation vis a vis their self induced cap hell.

Hawks paid more than market price for AA so more money in the agent's pocket. Likewise Chicago can overpay Domi resulting in more money in the agent's pocket.

Dubas was upset with KD for some reason when Fleury was being shopped two years ago. But since then, they have made 2 big trades so hopefully their differences are behind him.

Maybe with Dubas on Pittsburgh now they can work a trade that would benefit both teams. Granlund and #14 for #19? Maybe Hawks add a 3rd rounder. Can see the Hawks moving up if Danielson is still on the table - assuming they like him that much.

Debrincat wants out of Ottawa, Dubois wants out of Winnipeg. There shoud be some big trades coming up leading up to the draft. And it has been quiet in Toronto recently. Will Treliving hold onto the big 4 or move one of them?

Dubas was upset that Tampa Bay came in and one upped him for Hagel, that he thought he had a deal wrapped up for.

Maybe now they can get the Malkin trade done

Good point. I was looking at it simply from the perspective of The state of the team and what they needed in order to kick-start the rebuild (High draft picks). For sure, he is a valuable player (two time 40 goal scorer at 25 yo), but I think you can only have like one or two guys like that on your team and still be in contention. The rest of the guys, while still needing to be able to produce, need to be more 200' players.

While he's at it, LA still needs some cap space. KD can go land Kopitar and Doughty as well. Sure that defeats the purpose of LA clearing cap space, but ... details...

Maybe Chicago can help a team create cap space for a team to acquire one of these 2....for a price. I'd like to see KD get some prospects vs. picks.

Why so mad?

Just trying to figure out when it is okay to attribute one's experience with a small sample size to a whole population, and when it isn't. I mean, I thought we get in trouble for that these days.

- mohel

Not mad, Mo...... Have a bunch of generalizations/observations as all humans do. I'm a pretty polite/tolerant guy so find no need for filters per say so I rarely get in trouble for sharing them. And even if I do, so what?

Polish guy I know who lived behind the Iron Curtain came to the US when he was 15, school teacher. Said back home not many civil rights at the time and the cops took care of punks right then and there. Much safer but less free..... Asked which he liked better, he had to think about it for a bit.

Also said in Germany people don't walk against a red light. People follow rules for the most part.
