Chunk, when i read the article I though the same. How do you take a guy that you say is slower, etc. and rank him higher. Then after reading thru in entirety you realize a couple of things. #1, he is just trying to get reads/clicks, and being a little controversial does that. #2 I think the point he may have been trying to make is that at this point, there is no doubt Bedard is the best player, and maybe is the closest to his full potential, where Michkov still has a bit more developing to do. Hence, maybe Michkov has more "upside" to get to full potential than Bedard who is almost there already.
I remember back to the McDavid/Eichel draft, where some were actually pushing that Eichel should go #1. Eichel is a heck of a player, but definitively not in McDavids class, though it looks like he may get his name on the cup first (albeit not on his original team) - TheTrob
He said Mitchkov is better in some categories and Bedard better in others. As I said you round it out with the Russian uncertainty and the position of each player, Bedard comes out on top but as the article says, it’s possible Mitchkov proves to be the better player. |

A year or so ago the same thing was being discussed. In some circles Bedard wasn’t the consensus number one, some had Mitchkov ahead. I think with the KHL contract, the uncertainty of the political climate in Russia and the position played by each of them makes Bedard the clear favorite butone day it’s possible Mitchkov may prove to be the better player. - paulr
Anything is possible but today the consensus has Bedard as the clear cut #1. Indeed, there were some going into this yr that had Bedard and Michkov ranked close to even but after the crazy yr Bedard had scoring 70 goals there are few, if any, that don't have Bedard as the clear cut top prospect and that is without the risks that Michkov brings off the ice.
But yes, Michkov is so skilled, has such a high IQ he has a "chance" to be in Bedard's orbit 15 yrs from now... That said, does KD pull out all the stops if the Cossack is there at 7 when Philly picks??? ........ Fun to see a trade yesterday but selfishly tells me Briere is open for business and understands PHI has to have some kind of rebuild. Could very well be Philly's #7 is in play.

McDavid can do absolutely insane things offensively, but personally, I think I like Eichel's game better. He's everywhere on the ice. Taking and giving out hits. Sound defensively.
Still seems kind of like a pud, but you need those kind of guys to win in the playoffs.

You did, and also added with the political climate and Michkov's KHL contract as a factors in the evaluation for some. My point is that even without those caveats the yr Bedard has separated himself from Michkov.
That said I agree, Michkov is so good it's not outrageous to say there is a chance for him to be spoken about in the same sentence as Bedard 15 yrs from now. |

Nowhere in the entire post is their own opinion given. It was a simple, open question regarding the type of player that KD wants. Agreed that it is out there considering the caliber of player that Bedard is and has shown to be, but don't lose your crap over something you misinterpreted. - Chunk

I dont believe it was.. his question was if bedard is kd’s type of player. The only goof i see is your post on this - LFS
Yes...and I'm saying it was likely said at least partially in jest but because he didn't red font it coupled with you apparently not being too quick on the uptake, missed it entirely. Reading's a skill. |

In that case, I did as well. I guess in this case, I was a Sheldon Cooper when it comes to recognizing sarcasm

I like Eichel's game also, though if given the chance very few pick him over McDavid even if aspects of his game are clearly better. There are definitely areas of the game where Eichel engages more than McDavid.
He IS definitely a pud. My kid went to school at BU same years as Eichel and as he also played Hockey, they were in some overlapping social circles. He has said many times that Eichel was a bit of an entitled wiener.

I think many sports figures feel they’re entitled and act like jerks. Toews came across as one who didn’t and I’m sure there are many others. I’m betting it comes down to parenting. |

I don't mind Pang. I liked him before he jumped to the Blues and I think he can add to the broadcast. All that being said, it will take a bit to wash 14 years of Blues stench off of him.

Parenting is obviously one huge part of a kids makeup and how he deals with people, I think nationality also has some to do with it. In general the Canadian kids seem more grounded, respectful and appreciative of the opportunities they are given, same as swedes, fins, etc. On the other hand the US kids seem to be a little more full of themselves. |

I have to preface this by saying I know his so I'm biased, but I'll take him over CC any day of the week.
And just a hunch, Chris Chelios got blown out by ESPN so look for him to show up a bit more on tv around here.

I’ve seen plenty of Canadians who are arrogant self centred entitled jerks. Look no further than the 2018 sexual issues involving the Canadian junior team. |

Had no idea what you were talking about so I glazed over it but reading The Athletic it seems to be true. Pang is reported to be in and Colby Cohen is out. https://theathletic.com/4...7/darren-pang-blackhawks/
I think I'm in the vast majority that Cohen is beyond irritating, dude talks more about when he played than NHL HOFers do (NOBODY cares or is impressed Colby) but I'm not the biggest Panger fan.
I started out a Panger fan but the more I listened the less I cared for him although he's a huge improvement from Cohen and does bring a load of knowledge.
I'm not enamored with Vosters but maybe having a steady partner with NHL knowledge will make him better? Been a long time since I chose the Hawk's feed, including the last couple yrs of Eddie and Foley yapping about Dianna's cookies, and doubt that changes anytime soon but subtracting Cohen is a good thing.

OK Panger is in then.
I'm still not sold on Vosters, was a tough listen at times last year. Maybe they all are when they are young.
Does this mean Sharp is going all National? |
