Corey Pronman finally did a draft piece I think is honest good and not ( as he seems to say every other sentence in his other stuff) "scouts have told me..."
https://theathletic.com/4...aft-bedard-michkov-skill/ - wiz1901
So the Hawks are drafting Michkov now???
At #19 I'm liking Barlow more and more (depending on who else is available).
Edit: Nelson at #35 or #44 would be a solid addition too. |

Honestly, cannot do that, because he is really too much to handle, there is too much desire to train wreck this kid. - wiz1901
Don’t get me wrong I think/hope this kid is destined to be a top player, some point to his size completely forgetting he’s the same size Crosby was at the same age. And unlike Matthews who doesn’t show up in the big games or McDavid, who’s really a one way player, Bedard shows up in big games, has some nasty to his game and I’m betting on him being a reasonable two way player. And I’m hoping the intelligence and humility he shows off ice comes into play at contract time and that he realizes, unlike Matthews and McDavid, that taking such a huge cut of the cap makes it difficult, if not impossible to build a team around him.

Just imagine how pissed the other fan bases will be when the Hawks win the draft lottery again next year.

Welp. The Cup final has been a little disappointing for me. I was pulling for Florida since they knocked out the big dogs out east. But from watching the game last night, Vegas is just firing on all cylinders. Giving outlets to their own guys under pressure, 1st to loose pucks, blocking shots. Some big time goaltending. Hell, this thing could be over by Saturday.
Then we get to see if Kyle Davidson has anything special in the oven this off season. I don't think there will be any shockers like last year only because I don't know if there is really much value left on the team or if that is something he wants to do again.
It's going to be interesting to see how and who KD adds around Bedard - Rota's Rooter(if they take him at 1 OA).
Florida were able to intimidate Toronto and Carolina. They can’t do that to Vegas. Almost to a man the Vegas players understand and are willing to do anything and take anything to win. Not sure how, but that mindset, that character, that courage is what KD needs in the players he drafts, trades for and the free agents he signs. ADB fits that mold, Marner, Matthews, Nylander and player of that ilk do not. As attractive as some players are to acquire, if they lack the character of this Vegas team or the 2015 Blackhawks, they aren’t the players to build the team with. |

I like ADB. While it was regrettable having to move him I understand why KD did what he did. Keep playing along the edges and you end up a middle of the pack team for years.
I wondered how ADB would hold up in the NHL and after 6 years in the league he has only missed 4 games and that was during the shortened 56 game covid season where he was held out because he had been exposed. The man is just durable. |

Sportsnet reporting a 3 way trade between Philadelphia, Columbus and LA.
Provorov to CBJ. Petersen and Walker to Philly. Not sure what Kings are getting, cap relief obviously.
Edit-CBJ 1st #22 to Flyers. Flyers also get LA 2nd rounder and prospect Helge Grans. |

Barbashev was already one of the guys I liked in FA to sign. Nothing in these playoffs has changed my mind. - Elbows15
I've been agreeing with more and more of your posts lately...its very unsettling. |

I did too, except the return seemed a bit much for Hart given they have Levi who showed he may be the real deal with his time at the end of the season.

This would a similar type trade that Davidson would try and make. Take cap dump for more picks and prospects. |

So it did cost LA at least a 2nd to get rid of that contract, sounds about right

Well looks like the regional sports kerfuffle is causing cutbacks on the broadcasts. Think the Hawks will follow suit?
Due to current and ever-changing dynamics surrounding the broadcasting landscape, the LA Kings will transition to a singular broadcast team across television and radio beginning with the 2023-24 season.
Nick Nickson will serve as club play-by-play announcer alongside Jim Fox as analyst. They will be joined by Daryl Evans as an on-air personality for the simulcast. Additional roles will be announced at a later date.
As a result of this new strategy and structure, the organization has informed Alex Faust that unfortunately his contract as television play-by-play announcer will not be renewed. It is set to expire on June 30, 2023. |

That was a solid targeted hit, he had the puck, and Eichel saw it coming.
I was watching the Canada Feed.
They remarked how Eichel didn't see the player change of the rampaging #19 and when he did he choose to fall forward instead on backwards and got man-handled.
You saw when Peterborough was losing in the Memorial Cup, how their team decided they had to make a physical statement after the game was out of reach.
As long as I hav been going, this has been a very common response in playoff series, because you want the victor to think about it next game.
I thought I had grown above taking joy in these type big hits but this one please me so, because I always thought Eichel was non-vocal B-list NHLer who wasn't captain material, and his trade demand in Buffalo was self motivated, and he hadn't done enough to be considered an A list NHLer where his team had rot accommodate his desires, like the Hawks will be when Bedard gets tired of losing...hopefully not.
So I love the guys I think need a wake up call get them.
I didn't want his neck to fall apart, but it sure looked sweet as he looked like he dislocated his shoulder...cause I has less respect for his leadership and play, and loves me some Tkachuk leadership.
I, too, wonder if Eichel can change my opinion of him by leading, or will we "not see him all night." - wiz1901
Sorry, but your comments on hoping for a dislocated shoulder are sad. Just because you think hes a B level player and not a leader. What if its your kid out there?! |

Maybe Bettman can convince the Saudi’s to invest in the NHL, I bet the salary cap would take a huge jump then. |

No one has asked the real question since the draft lottery. Is Bedard the type of player that KD is looking for? Is he fast on his skates? Is he tenacious? Sure, he is generational and KD would be an idiot to not draft him, but is Bedard a KD type player? |
