If Caufield is the measuring stick at that price, Dinky getting 9M doesn't seem so unreasonable now does it? - Elbows15
Yeah, might be. Caufield doesn't have the same sample size in his production, but similar 0.43 goals per game so far in his career, pretty much matches Alex Debrincat's goal scoring rate in his first 5 seasons with Chicago. Debrincat is a bit more proven and IMO has a bit more rounded game. His first season in Ottawa might hurt his value, but he is probably worth it. I do think Debrincat will bounce back with a better year offensively probably shooting back at that 15-17% rate and net his 35-40 goals and 75-80 points. |

Yea i just don't see him giving up the 9th pick or anything else, when he was in TB he built through the draft and hockey trades. - BetweenTheDots
A bird in the hand (Debrincat) is worth 2 in the bush. Will either the #9 or a 2nd or a 3rd become a 40 goal scorer?

But that's with Kane, not minimizing Cat, over 25 goals is nothing to sneeze at, i just don't see the Wings being a player away either. Also he's got dmen developing in the system i myself would continue to draft and develop |

Dinky has 1 season of less than 50 points. Caufield has no season with even 46 points.
Dinky set a career high in assists last season with 39. He is far more rounded than Caufield.
Add is Caufield hasn't come close to playing a full season yet. With only 3 years in age difference I would rather give Dinky 9 than Caufield almost 8 at this point.
Caufield will score but he is nowhere near as good of a playmaker as Dinky. Defensively it isn't even close.Dinky is far better.

If Michkov is gone before #8 I can see Washington parting with #8+ for DeBrincat. |

Barbashev was already one of the guys I liked in FA to sign. Nothing in these playoffs has changed my mind. |

That would be great then they could trade Wilson to us to make room to pay the Cat.

Like I said earlier, Wings sign Kane to play on the same line with Cat. Larkin at center.

Do you think Kane wants to sign with a team who aren’t a contender? |

KD should acquire DeBrincat for Toronto’s 2025 1st round pick, the Rangers 2025 4th and the rights to Shawn Lalonde. - DarthKane

I know signing with a contender was a big concern for him at the TDL. The Rangers at the time were a fit with the association with Panarin, travel distance for his dad, and shot at a Cup.
Now who knows? Maybe he wants to chase the American born player points record. He'll have a good chance at that teamed with Cat for a few years. Dad could still see a lot of games. Wings have the cap space to fit him in for a few years. |

I agree, but I heard puck luck (or lack of it) had a lot to do with the decreased production. - LAHawk
Maybe puck luck had a lot to do with him scoring 40 |

Why is WSH the place where everyone pegs Russian players to get drafted? Just Ovi? |

I wouldn’t be surprised if a GM or two has considered signing a group of players from the same country. Then if this team adds another player from the same country - even if a junior age prospect is drafted - perhaps the we are family and home town discount could save when contracts are renewed. Remember Detroit had the five Russians - ok not sure how many exactly - and they were I Cup contention often
Vancouver has a couple Russian players Someone could research this and let’s watch if any teams load up |

These top 50 or top 100 lists are all over the place. The only one that matters is the one the Hawks compile. We'll know three weeks from tomorrow.

I'd guess he'll sign in Dec/Jan after making sure he is back to where he wants to be physically. That will also give him the chance to feel out the league a little bit (although his overall options will likely be limited due to the cap at that time.
I would die laughing if the Hawks somehow pulled a "Seattle" and ended up in contention and being the best available option for him. Not that I think KD would sign him, but still would be funny. Can you imagine the local press? |
