I am admittedly a Rangers optimist and sometimes to a fault, but it's my team and I try to see the best to justify the amount of time I spend watching them/thinking about them.

Tonight I was thinking as I've been uninspired like the rest of you with the coaching search. If they hire Lavs lets say, I think a bunch of us might look at that as a lateral move. Hynes I agree would be a mistake. I've seen a lot of people saying "if we're hiring Lavs why even fire GG?" Truthfully there aren't many coaching candidates out there to get overly excited about.

If GG wasn't fired, what do we think the temperature here would be? After the effort they showed, and the facts that we've all rehashed a million times here about the difficulty of changing our core given their contracts, did Drury have any option but to fire him and hope for the best with someone else?

You can argue that drury put himself in this situation with other moves he made, but looking at this in a vacuum, outside of hiring hynes I think whatever the decision is is one that was necessary just to appease the fans. Maybe that's the wrong way of running a team but if GG wasn't fired I think we'd be equally as pissed

If GG didnt get fired, I wouldnt love it but I wouldnt hate it. The coaching options kinda suck and so its like would you rather keep GG or go for someone from this current crop? However… obviously… we would all be complaining and wonder wtf was going in the locker room. So many things I wonder in terms of GG, was he against Kane and forced to make it work?

I think you are wrong, Laf is worth more than the 11th pick. Picks are a crap shoot.
- Brukie

I don't know about Vancouver and Lafreniere anyway, they are so capped out and he does still need to be signed, unless they are sending a contract back the Rangers way

Idk about all that but if michkov actually starts falling we should try and trade up to take him
- picklerick

I mean, if you were the Rangers would trade the 11th overall pick for a player like Lawson Crouse, Scott Laughton, or Kasperi Kapanen? Because that is who Lafreniere is producing like. I like Laf, but let's be honest. He's been a disappointment.

With the VAN rumor of wanting Laf, would u take 11 OA for Laf and move on?
- nyrangers9479

No, but Ill thow this back…

Would you be interested in getting PLDubois and reuniting him with Panarin?

Obviously this would require trading Chytil and Goodrow.

It’s a well known fact that every 1OA pick hits their stride on coach #3

Lawson Crouse has played 423 games. He has 155 points. In no world is he worth the 11th overall pick.

LMAO, this is one horrible take on a player.

Youre going to judge Crouse based on the entirety of his career and not where hes at now?

The guy played mainly 4th line for the first 3 years of his career, the following 2 years the team saw a bit more in him and he started getting more minutes. He has grown to become a legit force over the last 2 years for the Yotes. I dont think theres a single person here that wouldnt want Lawson Crouse on the Rangers.

His first 5 years... 281 games, 36 goals, 40 assist... 76 points
His last 2 years... 142 games, 44 goals, 35 assist... 79 points, lets also not forget the 375 hits.

Hes also only 25 years old. Hes also only making 4.3m per year.

In no world? Maybe not yours, but in everyone elses, Im pretty sure its plausible.

He put up 45 points last year. The same amount as Chytil. Some people want Chytil traded. But sure, because Crouse is big and hits, he's worth the 11th overall pick.

Because Chytil is bad at his position. He is pretty much useless in a defensive capacity. He was an absolute amazing 39.8% on faceoffs.

However, I do think Chytil needs to play 2C because guys like him arent meant to play in the bottom 6 where you need guys who are capable to play in all areas of the ice. I think its one of those make or break situations, if he cant live up to that than he has to go because a player like him playing 3C hinders us more than it helps.

Guys like Crouse are heavily sought after. Look at the price Tampa paid for Tanner Jeannot.

Were not talking about whether or not it worked out for Tampa, were talking about the price teams will pay for players the ilk of Crouse and Jeannot.

Elliot Friedman saying he is hearing from the combine sounds like Hynes is the guy. He can’t confirm just what he is hearing in gossip. Hynes was brought in for another in person meeting this week. Why it’s taking more time.

This really sucks if true

mock nhl draft on the Athletic has Rangers selecting Charlie Stramel, a big center from Wisconsin

apparently he's projected to be a much better offensive presence in his sophmore season

That’s the rumor, and supposedly he wasn’t to shy about being vocal about it.
