Larry Brooks said that Drury is in Buffalo at scouting combines, there is really no point in refreshing anything to see if a coach has been hired, it's not happening any time soon
- jimbro83

Still wild it’s taking so long. You figured they would have wrapped it up prior to the combine if they were the guys

There was no plan. Drury fired GG after the game 4 blowout. I am fine with it, but there was no plan it seems

I think there's still something to the belief that perhaps Drury and Gallant differed on bringing Kane in, but, I dont think we'll ever know

Well, we could just base it on the fact that the, I believe, 2 reported incidents of him and Drury getting into uncontainable shouting matches behind closed doors coincided with the team's worst efforts after Kane was brought in. Speculation, sure. But, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck,...

Reading more on Hynes trying to prepare myself if the rumors are true, and he sounds about as opposite of Gallant as you can get. Supposedly brilliant structurally and strategically, but doesn’t sound like he’s very like-able. Wouldn’t hate having a guy like that as an assistant, but feels like it would be a massive overreaction if he’s hired as HC. Not happening, but I’d rather bring Vigneault back at this point.

I think if Hynes is hired it means Drury is in control. He will act like his puppet and get the lines and minutes to the players Drury wants. That was one of the biggest issues between gallant and Drury I heard. Gallant didn’t use the players the way Drury wanted when he put the roster together

It’s crazy how the fan base is all on the same
Page on this lol. And nothing he does in the regular season matters. He could score 130 points and if he comes up small again in the playoffs he will be hated lol

That’s a really interesting perspective. Typically I would agree with Gallant here, that it’s up to him to coach and deploy the players the way he sees best. But throughout the season, most of the “coaching” he did was mixing and matching. Could see why Drury would get annoyed with that like the rest of us did.

if the personnel remains largely the same, I wonder if the next coach will use Mika that same way where on the PP he does that one time attempt

he swung and missed a lot of times trying that this year and several times in the playoff round

I love Mika, he's one of my favorite Rangers of all time, and he was team MVP in 2022-23, but, many times this year I thought to myself they should get away from doing that move

Where else does he fit on the powerplay? The bumper spot? Not sure where else he fits on the first unit if he isn’t firing one timers

Looks like Severson going to Columbus and signing an eight year deal with a $6.25 mil AAV

I saw it more as the need to find other options on the PP just to keep the defenders honest. The only time we really scuffled on the man advantage was when we did nothing but feed Mika on the right side of the net and every defender and goalie knew it was the only thing to worry about.

Hey, Drury has been a winner at every level of his career/life. I can think of worst things than giving him a shot at having control.

Ok, this kinda not true in the NHL. He wasn't the catalyst in Colorado when they when on 01. At best he's 5th on that list. Nothing in Calgary, Buffalo, and New York. We need to question Chris Drury as the "winner guy"

I think we've all just gotten over the excitement of doing well in the regular season. What does it matter if you can't follow it up with the kind of play that wins games in the playoffs??

In exchange, New Jersey will receive a 2023 third-round pick (previously belonging to Calgary) from Columbus.

You're missing the point a little, I think. There are people who are just driven to achieve goals. That doesn't mean they have to be the driving force at all times. Or that they have to place 1st in every race.
Drury may not have been at the pinnacle of his hockey career in Colorado, but he was a solid, dependable player that did the things they needed to win games and won the Calder there. He was a leader and solid on-ice example for teammates in Buffalo. We won in baseball as a kid. He won a Hobey Baker as well as an NCAA championship.
My point is that some people know what effort level it takes to succeed and some don't. I don't think things would be the worst we've ever seen if he was given one season of complete control. Nor would they be unrecoverable.

Ugh the rangers better find a way to make moves. I can’t take hiring a bad coach and not having space to make roster moves lol

After the second game of the Devils series it seemed like Gallant said,"(frank) it, if this is what you give me then I don't care."
