Leons a beast in the playoffs....Am is not.
I ilke matthews, he has a better wrister...but i would take Leon over him if i had a choice.
Happy hes a leaf, but i really dont want to handcuff the team again and overpay him.

A point is a point.
Special teams are important in the playoffs....but ya he does get a lot on the pp

What happened to Edmonton once they stopped getting power plays and scoring on them? They were eliminated really quickly.

They're excellent players, I'm not saying otherwise, but they're 100% power play merchants. Stats get padded heavily.

McJesus is undeniably in a league of his own, but Matthews isn't below Draisaitl by any means. Personally, I very easily take Matthews, as he does everything on the ice, and doesn't live off of power plays.

Especially since the Leafs just don't (frank)ing get power plays in the playoffs.

Ya i saw that. Whether true or not, i dunno.
It could be just to remove the "lame duck coach" label for the season. Give him a 1 year extension....no huge financial loss if they fire him mid season or in the off season next year

- Fakepartofme

Idgaf about the financials.

It just doesn't make sense to turn the page from Dubas....and keep a Dubas philosophy coach. The perimeter play, puck possession game does not work in the playoffs. The Leafs don't have a net drive philosophy. It's very easy for these guys to not go to the dirty areas, and just play on the outside. Take a look at how Vegas plays the game. Guys in the crease, right in front of Bob, ALL THE TIME. Yet, they still manage to play with speed north-south, odd man rushes, etc. We are WAAAY too much east-west with Keefe. I hate the style.

I haven't seen't it yet, but I'm planning on it sometime in the next few days.

Loved the first 3, so I imagine I'll love this one, too.

Draisaitl is riding Mcdavid’s coattails right to the hall of fame. Just like back in the day with Gretzky.

Matthews is so much better than Draisaitl. Defensively there’s no comparison.

I also love Matthews more than Draisaitl. Pretty sure he'd post similar if not better numbers if he was playing with McDavid.

The only thing Draisaitl definetely has for him is that playoffs clutch factor which we have yet to see from Auston.

I agree, but I can see how others could think otherwise.

Bolded- Absolutely. No debate can be had about it, either. Matthews is tiers above him.

They're talking extension, fake.

And you're not bringing in a new coach shortly before the season starts. If you're doing it, you're doing it now.

- fifty__missions

Maybe ...but that's not at all what Friedman said. He threw out a pure speculative guess that they would extend IF they decided he would come back.

It was very very far from an endorsement and it was EF offering his own thoughts.

I agree, but I think he's keeping Keefe because I don't think he'll make his first move as GM to go against what Shanaigan wants.

Apparently Shanaigan made it clear to all he interviewed for GM that he thinks Keefe should stay on, but the GM can ultimately make their own call.

Can we all just agree that Shanahan is the GM? This "GM makes the final call" stuff is bullpoop. When Shanahan tells you what he's thinking, what GM is going to go against it? Shanny just veto his ass anyway. Treliving is a respected guy who was brought here to do the legwork, and for Shanny to give the thumbs up/down. Imo, this is on Brendan at this point.

I try to watch the Oilers as much as I can and it seems like everything that happens on offence is because of McDavid. He drags 3 players to the net and his teammates end up with tap-ins. I haven’t seen a player have that much effect on a game since Gretzky. Draisaitl is in such a good spot there.

Do we know this for sure though? I know there were a few rumours but did he actually overrule Dubas?
