I know it's Kypreos, but man, I need this to be right.

Glad the Leafs are finally hiring Chris Pratt's evil twin.

It's a good deal. I think if he can stay healthy he has 30-40 goal consistency.

Love how our two best players are signed for 8 years for less than 8M each.

With the cap going up, they're going to be bargains very soon.

Love how your best players are Suzuki and Caufield. Slack-off-ski as the 1st OAP with 10 points and -13 should be a bargain too.

Just under 8m for a .682 ppg player with only 84pts in his career.
Thats steep imo. Hopefully hes able to get to at least 70 pts a season.

Caufield and Suzuki has won more playoffs round than the Leafs since 2003.

Slaf will improve and will be a great asset moving forward.

If you're busting his chops, that's one thing - but Nylander's $6.9m contract for 6 years is a very solid deal. When he signed that, he had two consecutive 61 point seasons with a career best 22 goal season.

Caufield is undersized and has been injured a few times - which is the largest concern about him - but his production paced out to a 46 goal season last year and a 64 point season.

I think Nylander is more dynamic of a player, but Caufield as a shooter is going to provide value for that contract as long as he stays healthy. I like Suzuki as well for them.

I don't think either are quite as good as maybe Habs fan would want to be a franchise type player, but Suzuki should be a 25-30 goal / 70-80 point guy for most of that contract. Both contracts are solid value.

No one here has a crystal ball, but I'm not sure about him at all. He's a big guy and he has hands, but that first year performance was one of the weakest by a 1st overall pick since Patrick Stefan - and for me, he's probably the worst #1 OA if you exclude some of the earliest days of the draft when scouting was an afterthought. That said, Jack Hughes' first season was abysmal and he seems to be doing pretty, pretty, pretty good.

maybe this was discussed, but I wasnt here cuz I was out doing not HB things for 4 days.

but it looks very much like Dubas got a whisper in his ear..before going back to Shanny/Leafs...and asking for a lot more...stuff (money/power)

which would explain a lot

So he wasn't the Wright choice with the 1st OA pick?

Aside from the ha-ha, to clarify - I was talking about Stefan. That guy sucked. Slafkovsky still has time to develop. It's possible he just wasn't ready for the NHL and needs a year or two. I wouldn't cast judgement yet, but I'll admit that I haven't been that impressed overall with his game.

So far id say a win, since they got Swanson also.
curious to see how this looks at the end of the season. Teo is really under preforming.

its also a lot more fun watching KK/DV in the OF...cuz they make hard catches

The Jays essentially took last year's position player roster, and swapped out three players at comparable 2023 salary (+ adding Swanson). Here is how each are performing.

wRC+, fWAR

Teo 92, 0.3
Lourdes 143, 1.7
Moreno 86, 0.3

Kiermaier 126, 1.5
Belt 126, 0.5
Varsho 84, 0.5

I was on the "draft Shane Wright" train as you know.

But he's been far from impressive since the draft. Hell I think the guys who showed the best season last season from that draft were Jiricek and Cooley.

But plenty of time for all of them to change that.

I know it doesn't show it on the stats but he was slowly finding his game when he got injured. Took better decisions, made more plays.... and he actually had a little bit more icetime too.

It was a big adaptation year for him and sadly his season was cut short.

I'm curious to see how much he improves next year.

lol I just like the joke - both Slack-off-ski and Wright have been m'eh and shown warts.

I hope someone is teaching Slack how to not get destroyed when taking a hit and to keep his head up or his career won't be a long one.

He hasn't even played, but Logan Cooley would have been my preference if I was in that position. I don't think I have a leg to stand on!

Caufield and Suzuki rode Carey Price's coat tails as did most of the cross checking dirty bastard habs and managed to win more playoffs rounds than the Leafs since 2003.

Slaf will improve and will be a great asset moving forward.

Is anyone actually interested in Hellybyuck?

Do you do Sammy for him straight up? Dillon is an interesting player.
