Unless Dubas is a wizard and moves out some lead (Carter, Ruuta, Granlund) without taking anything back, I think Bertuzzi getting signed would mean Zucker isn't coming back.

Exactly. Make it happen somehow

A Granlund buyout saves 4 mill this season. As long as Zucker doesn't ask for something outrageous it shouldn't be hard. They need a legit 3rd line center tho.

The Pens top 6 only had 1 player under 30 last year (Gutz at 28). I liked Zucker last year a lot but IDK about adding more age coming back.

Dubas cant just trade out all the bad contracts for nothing. He will have to make some kind of deals of value going the other day. If that means Rust so be it then I would be good with Zucker coming back.

I was just pointing out that a Granlund buyout is easy and gives us 24 mill in space for free agency. Obviously some of the other bad contracts are here to stay, but that's a good bit of space to work with.

Yeah I think that gets done. I cant see anyone wanting to take him on. Unless AZ needs to hit the floor? IDK.

If I had to choose between Rust and Z, I think I'd take Z. I think he has a more complete game he's just been hurt. I think Rust needs a stud C to be noticed and at 31, is his deal going to hurt in a year or 2?

I think this board is ignoring the D. Its over paid and just meh at best. If you can move on from Petry and Rutta... do it. That may mean Rust is dealt for a D man coming back. I think Petrys cap will hurt.

Rust just had one of his best seasons in terms of generating chances and high danger chances. It's not like he is already fading away. You can keep both, you have the room.
I agree they need to address the D. Im actually fine with Petry, but Rutta is unnecessary. He just doesn't much of anything.
