Wonder why they didn't just hire their color commentator.

Pronman's most recent mock now has the Flyers picking Nate Danielson.

Just posting for discussion purposes.

Man, if the new GM who was a high skilled, undersized, points machine as a player is just another stereotypical Flyers GM who values size and two-way-play above all else, it's going to be a crushing disappointment.
- Feanor

It would be a huge disappointment but I don’t think the Flyers have been making those types of pick recently, York, Brink, TK, Farabee, Sammy T. as a few examples. They haven’t hit big with any picks yet, TK took a big step last year, and there is still time for a few to develop with the right guidance.

The #7 pick will be key. Need to add more top 6 players.

Dubas is the new Pens PoHo.

Wonder why they didn't just hire their color commentator.

- Feanor

Is he going to be a true POHO or just the teams head PR guy?

Question. #7 pick does not move the needle immediately. Why not trade back a few spots and acquire a few more picks (especially 2nd round)? Willander is an interesting RHD.

Unless we move up into top 4, there is development time needed for most of these kids. Even Will Smith is talking about playing at BC next year.

Crazy?

Dubas hired as Pens' Pres.

Guessing Darche will be GM, but I am glad Tulsky is reportedly out of the running. Kinda wish the Flyers had waited until this point and also had more of a GM search. But the triumvirate was always the plan.

That's an easy one to figure out...

Does he have GM or NHL executive experience? The biggest one to ask is, will he be part of a 3-headed think tank monster? Will most of his press conferences consist of talking about how Penguin hockey is going to change for the better and how he is going to bring in the crowds with "It's good to be a Penguin Night!"?

Now you can figure it out.

Could be, or he could poach Pridham from Toronto or even hire his buddy Spezza.

I don't think Tulsky is gonna be leaving Carolina ever.

When the cross state rivals hire a legitimate PoHo it is a reminder of what a joke the Jones hiring was.

His blitzkrieg PR campaign is all you need to know about the seriousness of the position.

As Logan Roy would say: Keith Jones is not a serious person.

Kevin Hayes pulls me out of my seat every night...every time he creates an offsides or hangs on to the puck too long that creates a breakaway.

Forgot Spezza was in the front office in Toronto. Didn't he resign after Dubas was fired?

On Tulsky, I agree. They're going to make it worth his while to stay. I think he eventually gets Waddell's job when he's ready to move to president full-time or retire.

Imaging having to buy out a productive consistent 40+ point player because the coach doesn't want to make it work.
- hello it's me 2050

Yes. Ride out the contract. Might be more attractive trade target in two years. Flyers should not retain any salary in any deal to shed players. Especially not to appease Tortosaurus Rex.

Trade players that actually bring back value. But we know they won’t do that.

I’m of the thought stay put at 7 take the BPA let him develop 2-3 years . It will take that long to fix the cap issues.

Yeah, he was Dubas' closest advisor and was always in the pressbox with him. They're super tight and he put in his papers the second he heard Shanny was gonna axe his buddy (before the presser), basically risking his own post-career trajectory. That kind of loyalty is no joke.

Dubas is basically gonna be running the whole thing, so he could afford to hire Spezza as GM and develop him in the role.

I think the Canes job has already been promised to Tulsky, more or less. He's probably just taking interviews as a courtesy at this point. He probably knows that Carolina is simply the perfect situation for him and how he works.

The key to that plan is the 2-3 years. During that time they should be gathering assets and DO NOT SIGN ANY UFAs or extend any players unless they are guaranteed to be part of the future.

The bold is the biggest dinosaur move. There is no one they are going to sign or trade for with a big contract that's going to fix the problems the Flyers are in right now.

Depending on what the Flyers do, signing short term UFA's to one or two year deals as stopgaps may be a necessary evil.
