"any jobs".
I really don't give a poop either way. I'm pretty much stay or go for any GM. They all make mistakes, they all make good moves... so much of it is out of their control on the ice that they really can't do much else.
Now if KD didn't have authority like a GM should, I think that's reason enough for him to move on. - gravyface
I actually have the presser up on youtube so I don't miss anything. That isn't what was asked originally. I can't make out the word to be honest but it doesn't sound like job. I think he said interviews?

That is a tough job to take.
3 years of Crosby (35, $8.7m, NMC)
2 years of Malkin (36, $6.1m, NMC and 35+)
1 year of Guentzel (28, $6m, 12 team NTC)
5 years of Rust (31, $5.125m, NMC)
2 years of Granlulnd (31, $5m)
5 years of Rakell (30, $5m, 8 team NTC)
2 years of Petry (35, $6.25m, 15 team NTC, NMC)
5 years of Letang (36, $6.1m, NMC and 35+)
2 years of Pettersson (27, $4m, 8 team NTC)
1 year of DeSmith
The Penguins are 29th in Wheeler's prospect pool rankings topped by Owen Pickering and Ty Smith who are not high-end prospects by any stretch. 3rd on that list is Filip Hallander, who we all remember as the guy who went back and forth in the Kapanen and unfortunate McCann trades.

They’re a Kampf and Holl away from contending - Canada Cup
Maybe we can convince them that if they get in early by trading Crosby with half retained, we'll give them exclusive negotiating rights to both - and return them a proven local hero who is a 2x Stanley Cup winning goalie - as a throw in because we care about their well being.
We are so kind. |

I find this whole thing a little puzzling.
Dubas was mocked mercilously as Leafs GM by other fans. Called a doofas, all sorts of things. Most of us defended him, as he was a decent GM. Moderately successful. Not hugely. Which makes me wonder how he gets a primotion??? Its a little weird. He had a very good young team and prospect pool, piles of trading chips, and ultimately couldnt get it done, despite pretty good results. An ild team with no prospect pool hardly seems like a great spot for him. Itll be funny to see all the bashers try to explain both his tkp spot with pittsburgh, and their 180 on him.
Also curious, pikesnof reports nobody wants the GM spot, only to land on probably the best available person on the market. When the other options are guys like doug maclean, who hasnt been a GM for a long long time, anf never really a good one, treliving is aSigh of relief. |

Waiting for the trolls to come say Dubas lied in his presser by saying he only wanted to be leafs GM and no where else.
Which means GM position, not a promotion.
Also, this tells me Shanny was afraid of his job if Dubas got a seat at the table. Petty Shanahan didn't fire him for some "contract demand" guy did it cause he's a wussy. - Aaron_85
Hot take :
The Leafs would have been better off if they fired Shanahan and offered Dubas president of hockey operations. |

Believe it has less to do with his moves as GM and team results, and more to do with his revampment of many organizational processes. He made Toronto a place players wanted to play and people wanted to work for again. |

Kyle Dubas named Pittsburgh Penguins President of Hockey Operations.

I think this seals the deal that he essentially wanted Brendan Shanahan's job. |

My take on the presser: Treliving doesn't do anything with the core or coach unless they crater in Oct. |

It's too late to do anything with the Core 4 at that point:
AM34 -> NMC kicks in July 1
MM -> NMC kicks in July 1
Willie -> NTC (10 team) kicks in July 1
Snake -> Already has an NMC |

We don't see anything of the day-to-day duties of a GM. By all accounts he's really good at all the executive stuff.

Kyle seem to overplay his hand and the Leafs moved on from him.
All this other made up drama nonsense, just seems to be BS.
Good on Kyle for finding a less stressful job.
All the best to him. |

Who cares if Dubas said he wouldn't go to another organization in a press conference and then he did. Guy changed his mind, and got a promotion. Got to take a meeting with Sidney freakin' Crosby. Where's the problem exactly. |

Still a month to find out if said players want to stay here and renew, what the market is like, and make a decision.
Life moves fast.

Yeah, no doubt a little birdie told him about the Penguins opportunity and he tried to leverage that with Shanny for more autonomy. |
