This is so typical of this organization, 1 step forward, 10 steps back. What are the odds the rangers will be looking for a new gm/president and head coach next spring? I'm putting money down on it if they hire hynes
- bonzo11

Honestly, probably low. All you have do is be Friends with James Dolan and not get embarrassed. The embarrassed part is why Gorton isn't the GM right now.

He has made some solid moves so I don’t hate him. But if he just hires his friends like Lavy or Hynes and they fail he is done
- TPC

Lavy at least has a winning record and cup to show for his work. John Hynes had Josi and Soros last year. Team stunk. So naturally, you gotta hire that guy.

Yea lavy isn’t bad, but he just seems like another Gallant. I figured the purpose of firing gallant was to change it up and not just do the retread thing. Hynes would piss me off so much

Yep, they should have let him finish the rebuild. I'm still pissed off about that decision.

We used to call him Grandpa Simpson. He always looked like he had no idea where he was.

Hiring Hynes would only fuel the disdain I have for Drury. I'd be pissed too. But it would also be funny and could potentially lead to his (Drury's) firing.

Or maybe they are interviewing Hynes so the fans will open up to the idea of lavy more lol. Drury is playing chess not checkers

Make one candidate look better to the fan base by interviewing a clearly inferior candidate.

I don't see it happening but Drury might decide that Sutter could work the same magic for the Rangers that he did in LA. I don't think that style flies with a young group like this roster. On the other hand, that hayseed Sutter might want no part of the bigger city.

Could be a bit of gamesmanship with the Penguins here. Drury killing time by interviewing people under the guise of "due diligence" but really waiting to see if the Pens/Dubas finally happens, and if Sullivan becomes available. And the Pens could be playing games with us too honestly.

My guess is Drury has already decided it's Laviolette (outside shot Leach), but is just waiting as long as possible in case Sullivan comes to market.

Only reason Sutter came out of retirement was that it was Calgary asking. I don't see him signing on with anyone, at least not right away.

Rumours in Leaf-land are that Dubas might be looking at the Presidency in Pitt and bring in rookie Spezza as GM. That could help the Rangers.

He’s also made some terrible ones, and I’d say the terrible ones far outweigh the solid ones.

Assuming this is accurate, this only further cements the idea that the only way Hynes gets the job is out of cronyism and cronyism alone. This team is not built in any way shape or form to be a “sit back and wait” kind of team. Drury is his bestie
