Soooo.....

Anyone still think Dubas wasn't posturing and negotiating through his presser?

So make your own phrasing. I don't care what you call it, making massive organizational impacting decisions from a self professed position of changing your mind on a whim is not how business is conducted.

Nice move.

I knew he had a great year in the KHL, but I hadn't seen't that he was named rookie of the year. But I've been in bed for a week, so I've missed poop.

You're all over any post offering Dubas any praise whatsoever despite it having nothing to do with your or directed at you in any capacity. And yet, the comment is butthurt.

You are the absolutely king of irony.

It’s because I do something like change my mind on a whim too much according to the lessons being preached.

I see this a lot and it bothers me _every single time_. No one is indebted to the organization to the extent that they do not have a right to negotiate their situation. The negotiations can be declined or met partway or met - but Dubas, just like everyone else in the Leafs organization including the players and staffers have a right - just like you or I in every day life - to negotiate their situation.

So to this point: Did he have enough success? No he didn't. For that he could have and probably should have been fired. Attempting to negotiate your contract should not be merit for dismissal.

- Monkeypunk

Do you know if they did not already negotiate to get tot he point where they had a deal in place? If that did happen, you think it's ok to come to terms and then renege on an agreed deal? I don't know many people or businesses that wouldn't fire or not hire an employee that reneged on an agreed upon deal.

Then the Leafs are more (frank)ed than we think.

This roster doesn't get it done. It needs a tweak to the Core 4+1 and it comes down to Marner or Nylander.

I believe 3 things at minimum have to happen:

1. Matthews signed.
2. One of Marner, Nylander, JT traded to balance out the roster with some playoff style grit.
3. Coaching change. Keefe is NOT and has not gotten enough out of this roster of talent. And, some of his coaching decisions are plain old dumb.

If the new GM candidate is not up to those 3 very important tasks, that person should not be hired.

Not a tear down, rebuild or any of that nonsense but a throuple of important and very strategic moves (that take balls) and then some key UFA signings and Leafs could see playoff progress IMO.

- underhill14

Sorry, but you don't trade top talent for grit....unless that grit is Matthew Tkachuk

Dozzer in person is probably a great guy.

I don’t think anyone here likes anyone’s online personality, and hockey opinions.

Often times I think some people’s bad side shines through when they don’t have to say things in person.

Personally, I think the discussion over Dubas and Shanahan has reached its end. I'm tired of the backbiting and bickering on here. We're all entitled to our opinion and although we might disagree, most of us have one thing in common. The Toronto Maple Leafs and the love of our favourite team. We want them to win. I get it. I've waited for 56 years to see them win it again. I've got thousands of stories of games from the past and the heartbreak of watching this team lose out every year. Some of you guys haven't seen them win a round, until this year. I get it! How about dialogue and respect for a change.

Doing what exactly? That was a comment in response to a comment about Dubas.

3 other people said something to another guy who went on for 3 pages. I said one thing in response to butt hurt.

Stop. Trying. To. Cause. poop.

Dubas failed the leafs ownership.

That’s enough, plain and simple.

I can live with the idea he didn't do enough if that's how it was viewed.

My issue is to do with timing.

The other options are horrendous and whoever it is will need to make snap franchise altering decisions. Insanely bad spot to leave your organization.

I also don't like that Shanahan is still employed. Keeping him around to make poor bad decisions doesn't seem like the ticket either.

You’re timing argument isn’t that worrisome if the game plan was in place with Shanahan and the ownership. Means intelligent people already know the direction they want to go and now they just need a GM who fits their view. Shanny is just the guy who has the convos between ownership and the employed.

Long story short, I’m guessing the leafs and Dubas weren’t seeing eye to eye.

I believe you said you are an executive?

Shannahan executes the board's wishes. I wonder how often everyone's phone vibrated, toned or rang after Dubs's press conference?

You know how it goes, someone was embarrassed , possibly multiple people.
