I'm not convinced he'll start the season in Montreal but if he plays like he did at the end of the last AHL season, we can expect him to get called up at some point.

he had a very good camp last year but got injured at the end of it. would probably have made the team otherwise imo.

With the amount of NHL contract we had? I doubt it.

There are more openings this year but we're still stuck with the deadwoods that are Hoffman and Armia.

God I hate Hoffman so much.

oh I'm not even saying Heineman won't be better, I just find it's very hasty to be making these statements with such certainty about these young players, that's all.

Why not… If he plays a solid year, given he would be UFA(I think…) a team can offer him that kind of money… Not saying I would pay that much but we have seen guys signing contacts we still try to figure out… It is the NHL… Everything is possible(Alzner…)

If Habs retain salary and add a candy(draft pick), he can be traded away…

Armia has been on the 4th for a while now. Not really where you want to see your top prospects anyway

I expect Hoffman to get the Drouin treatment this season. If everyone is healthy and deserve their spots over him, he will sit in the press box. Will come in if injuries happen (they most likely will) and kids are not quiet ready yet

sure, but the way you were saying it sounded like the habs have to give him 4M per if it's longer term, while it's usually the opposite, with a bit less money per year on a long-term deal.

I expect Hoffman to not be there at all, having him as a healthy scratch for the very last game of the season was an indication MSL finally had enough... Drouin only sat 1 game because he was late for a meeting lol.

We're not giving away assets to get rid of him.

He'll ride his contract up to the TDL, if we're lucky he'll score some goals along the way and we can get something like a Gurianov or a half eaten sandwich.

Not in my opinion.

The Habs don't expect to compete next season, they don't really expect to spend up to the cap either.

Why have a cap penalty over several years instead of biting the bullet next season?

I'd rather see him sent down to the AHL or benching him than buying him out.

oh, well if it causes a cap penalty over several years then it might not be an good option then, I'm not aware of all the ramifications of a buyout.

I think it depends on (1) if they plan on regularly using him this year or not and (2) if they think he will be a disruption to the team / locker room if he is rarely dressed.

I know he had a whole controversy in Ott with his wife and Karlsson's wife or something but overall he doesn't come off like a total douche when he talks to the media
