I like it. He's looking great since the Q's playoffs began.

they have to wait until after the draft I think to sign him. He has to go undrafted.

Which is likely.... I can't remember the last 20 year old goalie to be drafted.

it's the whole Primeau situation causing issues, he has a one way deal for next season, he has to go through waiver to go Laval, same applies if he is called up

Lots can happen during the summer.

I could see Primeau packaged with something else in a trade or they might just risk losing him on waivers.

There's also the possibility of trading Allen and rolling Montembault/Primeau. Doubt that last one happens but it's possible.

Why miss out drafting the next Petteri Nurmi when you could wait a few weeks and sign him as a UFA?

Can't wait to see Michkov in a Habs jersey.

Then not see him for 3 years.

even if they draft one of Smith, Leonard, Dvorski, Reinbacher....you won't see most of them with the Habs for most likely 2yrs and they will struggle their first season with MTL as most rookie do. The 3yrs does not score me, it is more will he be able to come over in 3yrs. Michkov will be 21 when his current contract with SKA is over.

They will trade for Dubois this summer to calm people down...

I don't know if we're trading for Dubois this summer, but it would be a fun move for sure.

I'm still all-in on drafting whoever is left from the "big 5" of Bedard, Fantili, Carlsson, Smith and Michkov.

If we stray from that path though.... it's a bundle of 5-6 guys that could be their pick.

they have so many picks, they can afford to use one for him if they really want him. they did draft many 19-20 y/o over the past few years.

the real question these days is do you extend Monty this summer, at camp, or do you let him play his final year? and for how much? imo the longer they wait, the more it will cost.

I'd have discussions with his agent to see if it's possible to sign him to a new contract right now.

The reason for this is that I think Montembault will have an even better season next year and we'll need to pay him even more afterwards.

And the main reason for him playing better will be, yes improvement in his game, but the team in front of him will be better.

5 years will be considered too long by some. But I believe in Monty.
