Can anyone tune in? I can’t listen either. - Brownsoldier
Based on Twitter, it sounds like Madden said Dubas to the Penguins is nearly a done deal. Dubas is starting to consider who else will join the staff. |

I have a gut feeling Chayka is somewhere on this staff. |

He has hockey ops written all over him. Either way this is going to be a good thing for the organization. I mean they barely missed the playoffs last season with an absolute moron running the show. It's only up from that. |

Ha unfortunately I think Chayka and Sam Ventura would contend for the same role in the FO. No Captain Nerd Planet here. |

For the record - Frank Seravalli said earlier today that he had heard the opposite of what Madden reported and that Dubas rejected the Penguins. He said the Penguins have re-engaged with several candidates they previously talked to which makes him think Dubas isnt happening.
What's weird is that he says he isnt confident enough to actually report it, but he says it on air during a podcast.
All in all, who the frank knows whats happening. |

I truly think the fact that Ek is saying Dubas to Penguins E4 means he is not going with the Penguins. I am totally fine with Darche, if not. That's the two I've been hoping for since Tulsky left the mix.
Also, Madden seems to just throw sh!t at walls a lot of times....he's like an entertainer, not an insider or reporter. |

Idk about Madden. I think he has some legit sources. He doesn’t report stuff too often but when he does, it doesn’t seem foolish.
I’m on the side where I think they are waiting to the entire staff to be hired before announcing. So for all we know, dubas is already working for us, and evaluating the roster. That or I’m completely wrong and Chirelli is putting on a penguins lapel pin for tomorrows presser.

I dont agree and either do the stats.
At 5 on 5: Boston was 2nd in goals scored, 1st in goals against, 1st in team goal differential, 1st in xGF%, 9th in HDCF% and 8th in shots against.
At 5 on 5: Florida was 6th in goals scored, 12th in goals against, 6th in goal differential, 8th in xGF%, 10th in HDSC% and 12th in shots against.
"Much better?" Nope. Sure, the Bruins had a better team shooting % and sv% but that has nothing do with some of the other metrics of 5 on 5 here....and besides, the argument could be made that having better shooting and sv% at 5 on 5...would make them better at 5 on 5, anyway hahah
Florida had a load of injuries in first half, Boston did in second half, but overall theres not a massive difference in totals. - MattStrat
Boston was first in PDO by a ton. Typically, Boston is in the 7% range in shooting, they shot 9.68 this season. Quite an improvement.
Ullmark played over his head in the regular season. Pasternak, Zacha, Lindholm, DeBrusk, and Frederick all had career years. Boston just played to their norm in the playoffs. |

This is part of the reason they were the better 5 on 5 team hahaha. Not to mention Bergeron, Marchand and many more having great f'n seasons. The stats don't lie, man. They were better in every single 5 on 5 metric...
Funny enough, 2 of the top 3 PDO teams these playoffs are the Panthers and Knights. Bob and Hill are huge reasons for that, playing over their heads. |

Chiarelli is just a moron who traded Taylor Hall for Adam Larsson and make horrible draft picks (Nail Yakupov, Griffin Reinhart).
Hextall is a guy who tries to be the smartest man in the room but never is, and isolates himself outside of a small inner circle.
Chuck Fletcher is a man who gets by on his dad's name and can completely and utterly destroy a competent roster in under 18 months.
How would you rate this unholy trinity in terms of who you'd prefer most to least? |

Bob isn't that good. He does play out his arse for stretches.
Hill-Not bad for a guy who started the season as the number four. Vegas is doing it with team defense. Yes, Vegas has a very high shooting %. The games I've watched they are creating offense from defense and banging in rebounds. |

Yeah seems Madden’s reporting is generally plugged in. It’s his analysis that is intentionally unserious. |

While Seravelli certainly Carrie’s more credibility than Madden- over the years I have noticed Seravelli has never lost his Philly homerism, which is a bad look when you’re trying to report on a national level. He’s quick to spread anti-Pen redderick at any opportunity… take it with a grain of salt, but just something I’ve noticed over the years and bothers me about Seravelli.
That being said- Pens need to tell Dubas to poop or get off the pot sooner than later.. I’m affaird if he says no, we may end up offending our “2nd choice” to they point that person tells the Pens to pound salt… |

These playoffs are one of those stretches....so far
I dont think either of those teams are playing a great all around defensive game. Of the playoff teams, at 5 on 5 Vegas is 11th and Florida is 15th in SF%, which means they've been outshot. For HDCF% Vegas is 8th at 50% and Florida is 10th at 49.59%. This shows they are giving up as many high danger chances against as they are getting themselves.
At all strengths Vegas is shooting 12.16%, thats crazy high, and good for 1st out of all 16 playoff teams this year. That's a nice little jump from the regular season of 10.32%. Florida is 8th with 9.86%. The highest team in regular season was Edmonton at 11.8% |
