If you think every GM gets their deals shot down and told to make other deals, you're an idiot. You think the older GMs who've been in this league for decades would tolerate that for a second?
For the average GM, stamp of approval is just that. It's a signature saying I've vetted my GMs work and he's not making any poor financial decisions.

Not only is that level of micromanagement unique to Toronto, the guy doing it hasnt spent a day as a GM.

Shanahan hired a coach before he had a GM, he's still paying that coach and is now looking for his third GM. He's a moron.

This might not be the most popular opinion, but I think Sammy needs to stay, he’s shown enough that he’s a legit #1. If Woll outplays him, great! Then trade Sammy.

Yeah, I'm not overly concerned about who the GM is at this point.

If Dubas had to run everything significant up the flagpole, new guy is going to have to as well. I really don't see Doug Armstrong coming in here when he has complete autonomy (well, maybe not complete, but as close to that as you can get).

I think it'll be much closer to a run it back scenario than anything significant, given the amount of cap space they have, they can still make some changes to the makeup of the team.

It's really a game of inches (centimeters?). For all the fapping over the Rat King, if Bob's not vintage cocaine Fuhr out there, they're not even out of the first round.

Lou had complete autonomy. GM's prior to Lou/Shanny had complete autonomy. Dubas may have been different.

If Dubas truly didn't ..well, he was a 32 yr old with no experience when he was given the role so I'm not surprised at all that he had some strings attached (if true).

Shanny saying he/they want a guy with experience should tell us that MLSE are looking to get away from the KD model and back to a normal mngmnt style.

The foundation for an extension was built, then dubas went out in public and said he didnt know if he wanted to come back to his role. Then he decides he wants to be back but with more money. Pretty much tearing apart all the work that had been done in negotiations up to that point.
Its understandable that shanny had to let him go.
