I don't think the flyers have anything the leafs would want.

Konecny obviously but the price tag will be way too high and rightfully so.

Good thing wonder boy got us Dermott and Bracco instead.

What would you give for Hayes at 50%?
- jmatchett383

Hayes at 3.6 would be interesting. Leafs probably sniff around on RoR and Compher as UFA's first. Both will be north of 5M though so Hayes would be some value (less AAV for a similar role).

Prospect and pick kind of trade I think.

Wilson and Mantha
- mr.sir

I always agree with your suggestions Sir, we have the same ideas.

Besides money/probability of getting said players, this would be my kind of STRONG line up. Thoughts?

Knies, Matthews, Wilson
Myles Wood, Tavares, Marner
Motte, Mantha, Jarnkrok
Lafferty, Holmberg, Hathaway

McCabe, Soucy
Graves, Brodie
Rielly, Schenn

Samsonov/Lyon
Woll

Not sure if the Cap works or Leafs could even get these players...but for me this is a sample line up that is more of a playoff ready team without losing the regular season wins. IMHO

Nashville never won. Guess Poile is gutter trash.

Chiarelli won a Cup. Thank (frank) the Leafs are interviewing him for the GM position. That'll be sure to make you happy.

- GreatGigInTheSky

He's not trash but... you would think that being a GM for 40 years would result in at least a fluke Stanley Cup win. During his tenure with WSH and NSH, his clubs only reached a single Stanley Cup finals (losing to the Pens in 17-18).

No, it won't.

In case you haven't noticed I've been lamenting the Leafs piss poor management for years.

At the end of last year, would you have traded Austin Matthews or Mitch Marner for Matthew Tkachuk? I'm guessing the fanbase would have been 99% saying no. Today? I'm guessing 60% would say yes.
- PrinceLH

He's having a good playoff.

If it wasn't for Bobrovsky, he would have been golfing after the first round and second round and third round. I might trade Marner for Tkachuk based on the net front and physical play in Tkachuk's game that a missing from our team - but everyone lionizing Tkachuk as the reason Florida is in the cup finals is ignoring the ONLY reason they are in the cup final.

(frank).

And now because the Leafs are (frank)ing around about a GM, they lose out on a coach.

Brunette to coach Nashville.

would have been a decent option..if the leafs are firing keefe

Hunter, who was in charge of the drafting, said they were drafting Dermott at 24 if they didn't trade down.

Swing and a miss.

Goes to show how hard it is.

Need your guys on the ice to play to their best. Or get a goalie go god mode.

Literally the only thing I've ever seen you be happy about with this team is firing Dubas.

Everything else you hate.

You refuse to acknowledge this, but that's simply not true. He received the framework for an offer - not even an offer that had been negotiated, they had discussed some parameters - on Sunday. Monday they had the press conference. Wednesday he told Shanahan that he was good to proceed with a contract and countered the initial proposal.

There was no extensive discussion as you say. There was an initial framework which incites a response.

It's okay to be glad that Dubas is gone, but recognize that this had far more to do with Shanahan not wanting Dubas to have a voice directly to the board than a power move or a last minute demand - he was literally in negotiations.

"Kyle Dubas - the butthurt that never ends"

There's your title - go write the book. Look on twitter (and in here) - there's clearly an audience.

I honestly can't believe they haven't yet. Should've happened seconds after Dubas.

Not just because it'll let coaches know there's a job in Toronto and that the new GM almost always wants their own guy, but it would've given Keefe an opportunity to get a new gig, too.

He's still just sitting in no mans land. Pretty poop thing to do, really.

To be fair Shanny and the agent had negotiated for months ...then, in Shanny's words, on the weekend

"Conversations with Shanahan and Dubas' agent continued to a point where Shanahan said he felt comfortable with presenting Dubas with something that was "a finished deal that reflected what he wanted financially and what he wanted as a GM which is what was important to him," according to Shanahan.

I'm not happy about it. The management of this team has been and is likely to continue to be a (frank)ing joke, given the reported options.

Part of the gig.

Leafs aren’t going to rush a GM signing so they can be nice to their coach.

They paid him handsomely and brought him into the league. He is thankful either way.

He did all of this finagling over money and power at the last second, after they had gone through extensive discussion and negotiation. All this after also saying he might not really be into the job, as well. Might he have had a plan b in his pocket by that point? Whatever the case, to drop TWO new parameters into the discussion at that point in the process - at the end of a whole year - would piss off most bosses.

See ya, Kyle.

- fifty__missions

You question every word Dubas has with extra meaning but take Shanahan's word as gospel.

If you paid attention to Dubas statement, the new info wasn't new to Shanahan. Likely meaning the additions to the contract weren't at the 11th hour. But why would you want to change your narrative?

It's funny to me that people think Dubas is some lying bumhole but Shanahan is some upstanding individual who sleeps with teammates wives and would NEVER lie to make himself look better. Not ever.

Best of the scraps for the Leafs.

It's why I wanted a GM found asap. Get that done and then focus on the other areas that need addressing.

Guess it could also mean that they're gonna run with Keefe for at least the start of next season.

I wouldn't be opposed to seeing him do his job when there's no Holl to put into the game.

His drafting record and unwillingness to trade out of season for the players that he needed made this team timid.
- PrinceLH

The guy was GM for 5 years. You won't see any results of his drafting for another 3 really. I guess Knies in the 2nd round is terrible though. 31 GMs passed on him and a lot passed on him twice. We like saying that about guys on other teams but never give credit when it happens for the leafs.
