Hellebuyck would be my #1 target but Gibson would be my plan B.
The past 4 years have been statistically bad but considering how bad the team in front of him has been, the 4 years prior he was fantastic when the team was decent. - Rare_Jewel
Maybe if the Ducks 50% retained. |

So Dubas was a good employee and quietly dealt with it until he figured he felt he was in a position he was better suited to do something about it? |

If they take Murray, who stupidly costs us 4.6 AAV, I think that works itself out. |

I think you haven't seen Lucic play since he was a Bruin.
He's been washed for 5 years.
Power forwards rarely do well after 30. Ask Wendel Clark.
Leafs need to focus on finding the NEXT YOUNG power forward. Not some broken one who has been obviously finished for over 5 years.
He'll either retire or end up in Vancouver. - Rare_Jewel
No one’s asking him to score a bunch of goals, or play 82 games.
He’s a character guy. Leafs only have Bunting and maybe Rielly who are heart and soul guys. Lucic is a champion, tough AF, and a locker room guy.
Leafs need to ship out 50% of last years roster, and replace them with players who will speak up, get angry, start some scrums for once, do some dirty poop.
Leafs fans are wayyyy too comfortable with losing.

Absolutely.
Been having a good laugh at people thinking its any different for other teams. - Santo_44
If you think every GM gets their deals shot down and told to make other deals, you're an idiot. You think the older GMs who've been in this league for decades would tolerate that for a second?
For the average GM, stamp of approval is just that. It's a signature saying I've vetted my GMs work and he's not making any poor financial decisions.
Not only is that level of micromanagement unique to Toronto, the guy doing it hasnt spent a day as a GM.
Shanahan hired a coach before he had a GM, he's still paying that coach and is now looking for his third GM. He's a moron. |

The Bruins succeeded without him, the Kings got better without him, the Oilers did better without him and he did nothing for the Flames.
If we were talking about 25 year old Lucic, yes, absolutely, get him. But he's not that guy anymore. At 35 years old, he provides nothing.
He's finished dude. |

To be fair:
1. Babcock seemed like a no-brainer at the time.
2. Nonis was inherited so it's a bit unfair to pin him on Shanahan. Also, Lou Lams was explicitly contracted for 3 years as GM. After 3, he was to shift into an advisory role.
None of this necessarily absolves Shanny from being a moron. |

So the guy who told Santo to drown himself (or something to that effect), is upset I said he might be an idiot too?
Lol. Stop trying to start poop Mr holier than thou. This place does just fine when you're gone for months at a time, maybe take another one of those siestas. |

Hockey Canada thought he was important enough to make an alternate captain. Canada iced a weak lineup compared to other years, and built their team with “character guys.”

Yeah, I get that there's hindsight at play in making that assessment. But it's really the same version of hindsight we use to condemn Tavares contract.
The only thing Shanahan has done well is repeatedly scapegoat someone else, but once you start peeling that onion you realize he's consistently done a terrible job for years. And it shouldn't be overly surprising, dudes biggest credential for his job was working for DOPS. Probably not a good reason to hire Paros for such a position. |

Total revisionist history.
Calm down, you’re always angry and using insults.
You’re not funny, or all that insightful. |

Find a new gimmick. Showing up here twice a year to whine and cause crap isn't cool. It makes you look like a whiney petulant twit.
I've never been angry enough to ask someone to fight me on here so maybe I'm not doing so bad. 🤣🤣🤣
Beat it snowflake, time for another white claw. |

Or maybe you'll just spend another few weeks whining about how you've lost respect for him when he doesn't, because he doesn't work for you.
Don't engage me, ever. I will continue not caring what you have to say and skipping over your posts as a result... And then this doesn't happen. Try it out. |

If you guys are just going to whine and female dog at each other like children please just flip to PMs and stop annoying everyone.
There’s no guarantees that your opinions are correct, not for a (frank)ing single one of us, so stop thinking you’re better than another and talking down to them is ideal
Thank you. |

That's good for him but that's like Canada's D team. Let's be real.
I get what you're saying 100% but Lucic isn't good enough anymore to fill the role you want him to play.
If you want an old guy to add to the 4th line, it's Corey Perry. He's shown the past 3 or 4 years he can still play that role well and has a history of being a champion.
But Lucic ain't that guy and hasn't been for 5+ years. |

LOL Latvia and Germany were the other medalists. I am going to guess the talent level in general was terrible.

Lol you guys are acting like I’m saying sell the farm to bring in Looch.
Take a flyer on him, if he sucks cut his ass.
I don’t want the Leafs trying to win the presidents trophy. Get 98 pts and he hard af to play against.
It’s sorta telling that the “core four” are getting paid for their regular season success, it’s almost as if that’s all they care about. |

Try to do something with Murray...other than play him.
Try to sign Raanta to a reasonable deal.
Antti "Freeze" Raanta and the Great Woll of Spadina splitting time.
Do it. |

This might not be the most popular opinion, but I think Sammy needs to stay, he’s shown enough that he’s a legit #1. If Woll outplays him, great! Then trade Sammy. |
