He seems to be the name that keeps coming back, has experience being a GM in Canada, has experience dealing with expiring contracts, can handle the TO media. - Symba007
Yeah, I'm not overly concerned about who the GM is at this point.
If Dubas had to run everything significant up the flagpole, new guy is going to have to as well. I really don't see Doug Armstrong coming in here when he has complete autonomy (well, maybe not complete, but as close to that as you can get).
I think it'll be much closer to a run it back scenario than anything significant, given the amount of cap space they have, they can still make some changes to the makeup of the team.
It's really a game of inches (centimeters?). For all the fapping over the Rat King, if Bob's not vintage cocaine Fuhr out there, they're not even out of the first round. |

and if Pitts didn't suck donkey balls, they would have beat Chicago and eliminated the Panthers. |

Cool. Briere has actual NHL players that could be useful on the Leafs so seems a bit different |

You guys should hire Jim Rutherford. He can quickly turn a roster into a winning roster. Is he a bit of a d!ck? Yes. Does he do business differently than how I would? Sure. Is he a bit reckless? Absolutely. But he's in a win now mode at his age. He could quickly make a difference. - SuperHenderson13

I think we could get Konecny for Jeremy Bracco and Travis Dermott. |

- Provorov would be nice.
- Konecny is RW, I think? So, maybe if Marner or Nylander gets gone.
- Laughton might be good fit at 3C
- Hayes at 2C could be alright if PHI wants to retain a nice chunk of $ |

What would you expect to get for Gibson?
I think he's a high skill, high potential goalie stuck behind a horrible team. |

Ducks are gonna turn a corner. Eventually. Probably soon enough to get some solid years out of Gibson. However, trading Gibson to speed up the rebuild would be something worthy of consideration

Already had a useless 4th line winger who should have retired 5 years ago in Simmonds.
Don't need another. |

Shanny needs someone he can control and dictate moves to, that was one of the issue Dubas had with the current structure. It's Shanny's team. - Symba007
There isn't a single GM in the NHL that operates without requiring major input from senior management and ownership. Perhaps the story about Dubas asking for $6-$7 million a season when he was offered $4M a year might have been a small issue.

It’s the D that’s coming that’s going to be the difference - Drysdale -
Helleson & LaCombe already
Baby Z and Mintyukov this yr - with Warren also possible -
Luneau & Hinds right behind them -
And yes Fantilli/ McTavish/ Gaucher / Lundy down the middle for the next decade -

They should interview like 20 guys and get all there is perspective of what the leafs should do going forward and how to improve the team.
If nothing else atleast they learn about team and how it’s built. Get some new ideas in. |

I would take that deal but I'd prefer if Murray went the other way some how.
What about Gibson with 1.4 million retained for a 2nd, B prospect and Murray? |

well if they run it back we’ll get more of the same🤦♂️
no topi 4 defense pairing, all new shiny bottom 6 at a discount and one splash at the deadline🤦🏿♂️
you can’t have a bunch of skilled little bois figure sk8tin’ around with alligator arms, twirling away from checks, gettin pointz gettin run along with the goalie while everyone puts the stick over their knees, looks at the ice and and coasts away, and think that it’s a good team ready for a cup run🤦♂️
the shammiplan has failed so mlslsd should fire shammy and back up the brinks truck for a prez/gm who’s all out of (frank)s to give beyond building a hockey TEAM and winning a cup👊🏿
boodrow comes to mind👍
then he could hire a coach like quimville to moderate the fun in the change room and have the bois ready to sk8te every night👊🏿 |

Ever since the 90’s I’ve been a low key Ducks and Sharks fan. I probably just liked their jerseys, (and the movie D2).
Now the Ducks have the worst jerseys in the NHL, but I still have a soft spot for them. I wanted Bedard to go there, but now I’m rooting for Fantilli to be the better player.

Hellebuyck would be my #1 target but Gibson would be my plan B.
The past 4 years have been statistically bad but considering how bad the team in front of him has been, the 4 years prior he was fantastic when the team was decent. |

I think you haven't seen Lucic play since he was a Bruin.
He's been washed for 5 years.
Power forwards rarely do well after 30. Ask Wendel Clark.
Leafs need to focus on finding the NEXT YOUNG power forward. Not some broken one who has been obviously finished for over 5 years.
He'll either retire or end up in Vancouver. |
