Both WN and MM signed 6 year deals, which is fine. doesnt bother me, I just wish AM signed an 8 year deal - senstroll
When the cap jumps significantly I am interested to see what Dri and Mcdavid sign for.
If AM were smart he would do 3 years. |

At the end of last year, would you have traded Austin Matthews or Mitch Marner for Matthew Tkachuk? I'm guessing the fanbase would have been 99% saying no. Today? I'm guessing 60% would say yes. - PrinceLH
before this season, Tkachuk was a playoff choker bust who couldnt win

Then 60% of this fanbase is (frank)ing stupid. |

I'd like to know which defenceman, at what cap hit, and at what cost before I decide which irrationally polarized (Shanny or Dubas) side to take. - The Law
If I had to guess, it'd be one of the D-men that were traded last season. So among Chychrun, Orlov, and the such. |

If the Leafs go into the last week of the season relying on Mrazek and the Chicago Blackhawks to win then we will be like the panthers.
recipe for success imo. |

I think we are reading into this too much.
I am sure there is a lot of crap being spewed as there always is with the Leafs. |

Incredibly (frank)ing stupid to get rid of the best GM this team has arguably ever had, over the course of 5 days, all because he asked for better poop. Not just for himself, but to help the team.
If they were planning to walk from him, then yeah, ok. But they planned on giving him a 5 year deal.
Only an idiot can think Shanahan came out of this looking like the good guy that isn't acting on hurt emotions. - GreatGigInTheSky
Oh, that's (frank)ing arguable, alright.
Arguable?? Forget even that.
How about laughable??
I'm not saying Shanahan looks good here. The Leafs management is a (frank)ing joke. Including the tenure of the boy wonder. But if you don't think Shanahan heard from the owners over Dubas' little power move, you're nuts. |

He did all of this finagling over money and power at the last second, after they had gone through extensive discussion and negotiation. Might he have had a plan b in his pocket by that point? Whatever the case, to drop TWO new parameters into the discussion at that point in the process - at the end of a whole year - would piss off most bosses.
See ya, Kyle. - fifty__missions
The curious part for me was that (according to Shanny's presser and a few reports) they spent time negotiating and had given KD the deal he wanted. The terms were on the table. They talked about the family stuff privately and shared experiences. All of that leading up to Sunday. Kyle wants to sleep on it. So ownership/mngmnt think a deal is 99% done ..just need KD to make a decision. Then Monday happens ...
Say what you want about Monday-Wednesday but for me it's clear that Monday upset the apple cart.
For any of us that do a lot of good faith negotiating you don't flip the script in the 11th hour unless you're willing to put the whole deal at risk.
Again ...who knows if the reports are accurate. But IF he flipped the script after months of negotiating then I assume he was prepared to be informed to pack his bags.
Anyway ...who cares! Buh Bye, you no longer wear the crest.
Next guy ...do the job ...better. Lets go! |

I am on the record somewhere saying Marner for Tkachuk ..probably the last 2 summers. Similar value I think ....just different skill sets.
But never Matthews ...(frank) that. |

why do people want Gibson?
he hasnt had a good season since 2018-19 - senstroll
Have you seen the defence he's been playing behind since 2018?
And besides, it's the #2 pick that's the centrepiece. The goalie is just to make the cap work, and precludes the possible over-pay for Samsonov. |

Well the Chychrun drama last the entire year so I doubt MLSE decision making would have delayed that trade. |

Nashville never won. Guess Poile is gutter trash.
Chiarelli won a Cup. Thank (frank) the Leafs are interviewing him for the GM position. That'll be sure to make you happy. |

- Provorov would be nice.
- Konecny is RW, I think? So, maybe if Marner or Nylander gets gone.
- Laughton might be good fit at 3C
- Hayes at 2C could be alright if PHI wants to retain a nice chunk of $ - mjones242
What would you give for Hayes at 50%? |

I don't think the flyers have anything the leafs would want.
Konecny obviously but the price tag will be way too high and rightfully so. |

You refuse to acknowledge this, but that's simply not true. He received the framework for an offer - not even an offer that had been negotiated, they had discussed some parameters - on Sunday. Monday they had the press conference. Wednesday he told Shanahan that he was good to proceed with a contract and countered the initial proposal.
There was no extensive discussion as you say. There was an initial framework which incites a response.
It's okay to be glad that Dubas is gone, but recognize that this had far more to do with Shanahan not wanting Dubas to have a voice directly to the board than a power move or a last minute demand - he was literally in negotiations. |

(frank).
And now because the Leafs are (frank)ing around about a GM, they lose out on a coach.
Brunette to coach Nashville.

there are stats that can see past some of the team issues and give you an idea of how the goalie is preforming.
to me Gibson is a 100% cap dump. and it would cost a lot of draft picks to dump 4x6.4mil.
or at least a smart GM should look at it that way |
