Montreal could offer their 1st in a package for Helly and Dubious
- washedup20

valid. i think helly makes even less sense for mtl than buf but it's a fair opinion.

He wants to win now, even though he doesn't have a nmc or ntc I could still see the Jets moving him east to:

Carolina
Devils

or Toronto if this new GM gets aggressive.

Edit*** Pittsburgh is an option now as well with Dubas at the helm.

He'd be in Montreal already if he was, he's made it clear he wants to play there.

Rumors during the year he might sign an ext. in Winnipeg. I didn't think he was still an RFA. I thought he was older.

Could see the Peg with 2-3 more 1sts if they ship out everyone

Kyle Connors any1?

If Connor is on the block, all prospects including the kids who played up last season should be on the table to get him.

I think the Sabres cup window would be open for 3-4 years and Skinner comes off the books by the time we're ready to get out the lube

I hope he does.

His trade and contract history with Calgary was awful.

It’s not much better.

Opening it up actually makes the chances of “star” player lower.

12 + 14 looks like best are Necas, McAvoy, Dobson, Boldy

Burnouts: Honka, Perlini, Gurianov(probably?)

Fine: Farabee, Wennberg, Girgensons, Domi, McCleod, Oleksiak, DeBrusk, Foote, Lundell

lol yeah thats a tough read, the Lindholm/Hanifin might be his best.

The Ktachuk trade is still TBD, Calgary got some nice pieces back there.

He did well to get Hamilton in the first trade with Boston as well.

He's a mixed bag, but I think it's moot. Shanahan is gunna run the show there. Treliving is there so nobody bothers him.

I understand trading the pick for an nhl goalie like helly, but why not make the picks when the pickers are very good at their jobs?

Maybe move rosen or a guy the brain trust has less faith in. Maybe the 2024 1st rounder instead of 2023.....

I'd think it's a nice pay day, but he also doesn't really need the money so maybe not.

That’s like the equivalent of not having a financial plan or retirement savings and saying Frank it who cares until we get there.

Three excellent places. No one can match the quality in the (reasonable) return like Buffalo. But I think the ideal team is exactly like the Canes or Devils. Canes might be too cheap to pay him his extension. Devils could just send vanner and Seamus Casey. Devils don't have the Levi "problem" or solution, whatever word you wanna use.

WTF no it’s not.

Teams that win the cup. Don’t give a poop about the salary cap until they have to.

How many times during Tampa cop runs? Did we hear there is no way they can continue to do this yet they continue to do it the same thing with a Vegas. It’ll be the same thing with Florida and whoever else is in the running to win a Stanley cup.

Tampa also secured their core to team friendly contracts and discounts that few teams have the advantage of doing due to no state income tax.

With that being said, they still had/have to bid adieu to players as well to fit under the cap.

The Sabres spent to the cap how many times during the drought ? How did that work for us ?

They need to spend the money wisely, they need to have a plan in place for their young talent that in all likelihood should earn lucrative second contracts.

Imagine if Toronto planned ahead and didn’t have to trade the rights to Seth Jarvis to get out of the last year of Patty Marleau’s deal ? They might still be playing hockey right now because Jarvis was arguably Carolinas best forward in the playoffs this year

Tuch, Thompson, Cozens.

Then Tampa gave Vasilevskiy a billion dollars because he's good and they won two cups

Still have Dahlin, Power, the #4 d-man we are acquiring.

Along with, Quinn, Peterka, and possibly Mittelstadt all within the next 1-2 years.

Cap space go quick, the whole worry about it when you get there thing leads to wasting assets you may eventually need.

It’s not that simple.

In theory, they'll have both Dahlin and Power extended this offseason.

That would mean the 5 most important, true core players would be locked up long term.

It's go time.

Are players like Quinn, Peterka and Mittelstadt really core pieces that you cannot live without, that they would inhibit you from making other, potentially big moves?
