I believe Bettman does not set the cap; I think it is negotiated with the union. Together, they attempt to estimate HRR for the coming year, and that amount is split evenly between the players and owners. The actual results are then "trued up" so that they actually split the actual HRR. (The Covid shutdown resulted in the players receiving hundreds of millions more than 50%.)

In with the new, out with the old guard apparently as Toews and Kane will be grazing in new pastures.

The only way is up as in the standings and points since more and more kids are going to be filtered in with a good coach and talent evaluation

I bet if Mitchell leaves he turns up where Bowmsn lands. I am going out on the ledge a bit and predicting that Mitchell stays one more year The coach and GM recognize he had the ability but has to put his game together and work harder to deal with the size and strength issue if anything affects his confidence to perform well it is exactly this. Although his decisions sometimes are wrong, he was too good at AHL and now had enough pro experience along with adversity so let us hope he can step up
