This mock draft (linked in the quotes above) has us picking Whitelaw with #19 but this ranking (not mock draft- just player ranking) has Whitelaw as #76 on their list. That is a huge disparity. Not saying either is correct, but shows you why some picks have people scratching their heads.

Sale really seems to be dropping in many mocks. Never thought 2-3 months ago there was any shot he'd fall to our 2nd 1st rounder.

Mentioned Cooley last night (He is returning to MN for year 2 and mentioned his disappointment in the arena vote results). the price might be too high but KD should be asking as he looks to be the real thing.
- Revco38

Maybe Rinzel can talk him into staying until he can sign freely with the Hawks. Just call him the American version of Michkov. Gotta wait three years.

KD has built up an awful lot of draft capital, is Cooley worth some of that? I’ve read some scouting reports but I’d have to digress to someone who has seen Cooley play.
- paulr

By no means am I the guy to know, but he was third overall in college scoring behind Fantilli and Sean Farrell (a Jr.) from Harvard. Second in total points, but he played three more games than Fantilli.

Most of what I've read about him from this season was very complimentary. That said, I think once AZ figures out their stadium situation he ends up going there anyway.

EDIT: I'm really interested to see how Shane Wright plays next year. If he can be half the player people expected him to be, I think he'll be a big boost for the Seattle team.

Be nice if the draft went like this, if it does i can see KD trying to trade back into the late 1st round

They have Whitelaw at 19 for the Blackhawks
Wiz has him as a 4th round pick in his mock

I hope the draft doesn't go this way. This guy has the Hawks picking William Whitelaw at 19. Wiz has him going 111th. Yes 111th as in the 4th round.

Would love if Danielson was available at 19. That would be an amazing foundation for the Hawks.

On a different note, what do you think it would take to get Logan Cooley from AZ? He sounds disgruntled and not happy with the situation w/the arena. A low second this year and first next? Would that do it? Would the hawks do that?

- Revco38

I am a fan of Cooley and I think the asking price starts with 19 plus.

Would I do 19, the 2 later 2nds and maybe TB 1st next year? IDK but I would definitely think long and hard about it.

My issue comes from timing. Is it too early in the rebuild to spend those assets? Even in this draft I think Cooley would go at worse top 10 and maybe closer to top5.

I think that would be AZ asking, but not sure I would want to spend that right now. I think adding someone who is a bit further along in their development and is a higher ceiling player like Cooley would benefit us in the long run, but not at 2 firsts and 2 seconds (and not 3 picks from this draft). I would start with next year's TB #1 and our 1st 2nd round from this year and see where that gets you.

The hope is KD will bring in a few more picks from taking on a bad contract (although with a few teams below the floor, there will be no shortage of teams playing that game, so not sure we will get much) and we could maybe throw that in as well.

Looking at AZ they have 4 2nd round picks in 24 and 25, so do not think additional 2nd round picks in those drafts will move the needle that much.

Think the asking price is beyond our pain threshold, but oh how good would he look with Bedard on PP1?

We agree!

I want to move up in front of the Red Wings in the second....

The question lately on Colby Barlow is..."Has he already past his maturity, growth, etc.
Is he maxed out in terms of his physical upside / growth?

- wiz1901

At 19 would you be happy with a middle 6 forward willing to play both ends of the ice who has scored 76 goals in his 2 seasons of juniors? Name captain at 17? I think you can do worse at 19. You can teach a lot of things but the ability to score goals is innate, imo.

He seems like a pick more in line with a higher floor lower ceiling but guys who can put the puck in the net are something the Hawks are going to need.

He is another player who is all over the mock drafts.

wiz who in your opinion, is sleeper player in the 1st two rounds that might go unnoticed but could be a steal in the future for a team.
- Scott1977

Not a 1st round guy but I think scouts are sleeping on Stramel. I have seen him in the 3rd and 4h round.

TBF he had a bit of a disappointing season at Wisconsin but finished the season strong. Had a decent WJC but not every 17 year old freshman in college adjust as quickly as some.

I think he ay even be there at 44 and if he is, he sure seems to fit the mold KD and MD are trying to build.

So probably New Years before he's ready to play.

that should be an interesting scenario to see if he signs anywhere, or holds off until after he's back in shape.

The problem for me is going to be, there are so many possibilities at 19, 35, 44 etc., that I'm going to be excited with who they pick, and gnashing my teeth at who they don't

In case anyone wants to check it out, here is a link to Chris Peters top 100 players in this year's draft

https://www.flohockey.tv/...top-flohockeys-final-list

It isn't a mock draft but rather a ranking of players.

Honzek at 19
Hrabal at 35

I know Wiz has changed his mock drafts a few times, but I remember seeing Hrabal at 35 in one of Wiz's mock drafts.
Cool list

FWIW I read something the other day that the other goalie is the one the Hawks have expressed a lot of interest in. Gajan. He even said it in an interview

I’d like to see KD look at the unsigned draft picks or possibly Logan Cooley if the rumours about him being unsure about the Coyotes is true.

Maybe? A lot depends on whether he would sign with the Hawks. I recall the Sabres trading for the great Jimmy Vesey's rights and he ended up signing in NY.

I gave that up a few years when they took Dach. lol. Followed by Reichel cause I wanted Zegras and Mercer respectively.

Now I just have a list of 4-5 players I like and would be happy they take.

thanks for opinion. Also think the price for Cooley will be to high. Unless Cooley wants out completely and not going to sign at all. Maybe playing with Bedard could intince him to sign and trade with the hawks. Maybe Tampa bays pick next year the 35th this year and defensive prospect to be named later included. Not kk though.

Brisson, in a statement, says Kane "wants to play for a long time". Laying the groundwork for a long term deal I assume.

Wonder if anyone wants to take him on long term. I remember after the Hawks signed Hossa, it came out that he had off season surgery too, and didn't join the club until the Thanksgiving western circus trip.
