what the flyers do has zero effect on my sleep patterns.
Comcast is big on optics. Optics are bad in this case. - hello it's me 2050
Oh no what a bad look for the team!
Let me fix it...

yet when they kept all 3 he still did a piss poor job with all his other transactions. He was given a "mandate" , like chuck. They both failed.
Was he interviewed for this article? - hello it's me 2050
Don't think so.
One interesting tidbit was about Kapanen. Hexy felt Sullivan wasn't using him right. 43g 7g 13a with Pittsburgh.
St. Louis claimed him off waivers and he put up 8g 6a in 23g. So maybe there is/was something to that.
Either way, he wasn't the right guy for the job.

What exactly should he be doing right now for the Flyers? - WhiskeyMan
That's a really good question. What does a POHO do? I can tell you that it looks like the vast majority of them don't have a second job, yucking it up on tv, 6 weeks before the draft. |

It also stated that what he felt needed to be done (let Letang and Malkin walk)and what ownership wanted (retain the big three) were two very different things.
That also sounds familiar. - MBFlyerfan
Funny thing is that’s the only thing that worked out for him, everything else he touched turned to crap |

Look, I hope he turns out to be great and leads the Flyers to the cup...but right now, to me, his working the TNT gig makes it look like he and the Flyers are not taking things seriously. This club's a mess. If he cant find something he should be doing as the brand new POHO, one week into getting the job, I dont know what to say. |

who was run out of town?
yes they wasted CC's best years, yet he never asked for a trade. Why? - hello it's me 2050
His last year. Feltch made it known he didn't want CC back. Then mysteriously it gets leaked that he will only go to Florida once rumors of him being traded surfaced.
He lived the life here in Philly. The team wasn't held acclintable for very much even though they never built a proper team around him.
But the locker room seemed lazy. They started slow all of the time and that happened every year.
I won't get into the debate of his being a good captain or nor. He did carry that piss poor team for a long time, but those slow atarts got old, even with several coaching and GM changes. It just makes ya wonder if he cared enough ro win. If so, like you said, why did he stick around?
The teams that are successful are the teams who have accountability across the line up amd I didn't see that when he was here.

actual work? You just told me there's no work for a POHO to do right now. What I'm perceiving is that Jonesy and the Flyers agree with you. Wish they didnt. |

I was 100% all for Zito being the GM here. Once feltch got hired I couldn't believe what I was reading knowing the damage that he had just done in Minnesota. Then he trashes this franchise. He's on a milbury and Chia level as fsr as I am concerned.
But, yeah, just imagine if they did something smart like hire Zito instead.
But of they hired him What would we be complaining about in here today though?
Hex and fleece me feltch have left us oh so mamy gifts and topics to discuss though! - Bob Habib
Zito was interviewed by the Flyers. But Chuck was all but hired by the point.
Dave Scott liked their respective backgrounds: Ivy League college (Harvard for Chuck, Yale for Zito) then a player agent then an AGM then a GM with Chuck having had prior NHL experience and Zito not. But Zito had the better talent assessment track record (as an agent, he specialized in pursuing low profile or undrafted players he thought could be NHL sleepers, which is how he came to represent Tim Thomas, Kimmo Timonen, Brian Rafalski and Ville Leino among his early clients. As a GM in Florida, he brought aboard Verhaeghe for peanuts, and now he's a 40-goal scorer). Everyone has some misses, and Zito isn't immune, but he is very sharp.

Yes you're right...Jones should hold a press conference every day. He should stand up there and tell everyone how tired he is from working so hard. That will help calm everyone.
If you can explain in detail what Jones should be doing then feel free to do so, otherwise sit in the corner in t-rex pose screaming "Do stuff!".

Bill, Hockey Reference has Frost and Adam Gaudette as comparables in Similarity Score(players with careers of similar quality and shape) ending in 2021-22. Frost took a big step up in 2022-23 so that comparison no longer looks valid. Is there a current NHL player that you could compare with Frost?

I don’t get any of the negativity that Keith Jones takes a few hours out of a few days a week to commentate the NHL playoffs. While he’s calling a game on Monday Night he certainly could be in zoom conferences with agents, Briere, Torts, assistant POHO, etc. during the day. It doesn’t mean he’s not doing his job, it just means he’s doing an extra part time job temporarily. There is no harm in watching excellent hockey, talking with players and coaches and front office personnel. Not one shred of evidence has come out that the Flyers are displeased or he’s not performing his responsibilities.
I get it, we all love to find fault and complain. It’s what we do as Flyers fans. It’s what we’ve been relegated to by years of ineptitude and being sold a bill of goods. |

Wow, thanks Bill!
Your knowledge about this team and your honest opinion are always welcome words to read. Thanks for all that you do for us hockey starved fiends in here.
I'm happy to hear that you also think Zito was a missed opportunity. I didn't know much about him until things got dicey here and he seemed like the surefire smart and safe choice the more that I read about him.
Either way, he is having great success down in Florida and I don't know if he would have had that here.
Either way, thanks for thr knowledge drop once again! |

That's kind of my concern with Jonesy....that he thinks he'd just be sitting in an office with nothing to do...or, that he's not really there to do anything anyway. But, you're probably right; the Flyers have earned our trust. I'm sure they know what they're doing. |

It makes me wonder if danny and torts have much more say in the team building than jonesy does. Jonesy has a unique position where he seems more PR than an actual POHO, which has been said is probably why some people turned down the position.
We really don't know but at least to me it seems that DB and Torts could have more say than Jonesy does.

Yep. Hope it works out, but I would've preferred they went a different route. It just doesn't seem serious or professional...and their POHO doing color a week after he's hired doesn't do anything to make me feel any more confident in things. |

What exactly do you think the job President of Hockey Operations does? Do you think he's creating strategy for the club and trying to find the right players?
The job, for ALL clubs, entails mostly with the OPERATION side of the franchise. If you are unhappy with the giveaway nights or cost of beer, yes feel free to continue to complain, but complaining just to complain still doesn't change a thing...nothing. |

Doesn't the President create a vision on what he wants? Then have the GM carry out that vision? |

You dont get the negativity? are you new to this site? lol People complain here, same complaints over and over for some reason. It would be fun to see a tracker how many times mjl bashed RR and Torts. Rinse and repeat, he brings nothing new of substance to the convo.
I dont have any issues with what Jones is doing at all. I will judge later when there are results from his actions.
