Thoughts on trading rust for picks, using those picks to get rid of Granlund, and Carter (maybe Petry too?) and signing bertuzzi? We would probably have to use a few extra picks |

My thought is he has a NMC for the next couple years and just took a somewhat friendly contract because he wanted to stay here.
If they want to sign Bertuzzi they can probably just make that happen mostly with Zucker's money. |

I’m not against a bit of a shake-up and I think we could get a 2nd for him. I’m sure we could add the 2nd to Granlund and that would get it done. Or we do that with carter and buyout Granlund |

The point of my comment was you can't move Rust without his permission and since he just signed a somewhat team friendly deal I doubt he wants to move. |

Not hating on rust just think he’s a fringe top 6.
He wouldnt have his #’s anywhere else cuz he plays with 87 and 71. Not physical, and he’s 30+. Most likely his best years are mostly behind him. Move on if u can.
Hex should have known better. |

The Pens have a number of problems, Rust isn't anywhere near the top of said problems. The UFA pool isn't promising, in my opinion.
The Pens could do a lot worse at right wing than having Rakell, Rust, and Nylander at $10.9M. |

Rust isn’t bad but Rust at 6 mill is every bit as bad as Carter at 3 mill. |

He’s starting the yr at 31. In 2 yrs this contract could hurt bad. If he can’t put up 20+ he’s not that serviceable at that hit.
But other that gutz the entire top 6 was 30+ lol. |

And Guentzel will be 29 at the start of the season. If you're advocating a rebuild, and I believe you are, Jake is the guy you trade. He has an expiring contract and is one of the youngest assets on the big team.
The Pens need to get younger. I've been saying that for several years. It finally came to the light when both Hallader and Lindberg signed overseas for next season.
Supposedly Sullivan is taking an active role in the WBS team this offseason. Better late than never, I guess. |

His cap is about 5M. He put up. There's probably a good debate if he was worth that last year but he was close. Looks worse because he was more like a 6.5M forward before that deal.
Carter is trash at any price. Can score if it's in his wheel house, but he's so bad even in his own end now that he's not getting into those positions often enough to justify a line up spot let alone 3M. |

Nah. Carter just had a down season. Big bounce back in a contract year this year. |

I’d expect the extension around the trade deadline for 2 more years. |

Well, we all can't earn 100K sitting in a office like you. Mathews is a (frank)ing loser. |

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to think so simply, void of comprehension of context or without any critical thinking.
I guess you thought Ovi, Stamkos, Sid and Geno were all losers when having piss poor playoff showings before winning cups/more cups?
Also, what are your thoughts on "doesn't play the game the right way" Marner getting nominated for the Selke to go along with his 99 points in 80 games? |

With the way Rob Rossi was talking tonight on Pittsburgh local TV, it sounds like Dubas to Pittsburgh is happening. He also said Eddie Olczyk is joining the organization. |

Yeah it’s been reported for a couple of weeks that Edzo is coming on as a conduit between ownership and the front office. Sounds like a hockey guy translator for an ownership group new to the sport. |
