Obviously highly hypothetical but I'd prefer Leo Carlsson as he's ready to step into the league IMO, game and body. He's 6'3" 200 lbs. Without Bedard and Fantilli in the same draft, he'd likely go first overall.
- LeftCoaster

Carlsson is đź’Ż a 1st overall prospect in most drafts. CBJ will be set down the middle for a decade. Or at least until he asks for a trade

I respect your opinion on prospects more than Pronmen. I’m very confident WAS will pass on him but we shall see
- CanuckDon

I think it's pretty hard to ignore his talents though. Some team is probably getting their future, just not immediate. Multiple picks like STL. You know Stevie isn't going to pass on talent.

I'd be pretty surprised if he made it to Van at 11.

Who would seriously say no to having someone like Kaprizov on the team?

Just don’t like his game & don’t want another winger. Nothing to do with waiting. Our needs are better served elsewhere imo.
- Nighthawk

I'd say teams needs are still to find the best possible player and make other changes from there.

There is a pretty big difference though, smurfy Michkov has expressed no interest in coming to the NHL and has a much longer contract. Not to mention his dad was just murdered. So many red flags with this kid. We have no prospects and one high pick and we need to make it count.

WAS is at war with Russia so I really doubt they are picking a Russian in the top 10

Somewhat agree & IF he fell to us a great asset to flip to a team in a rebuild who can wait & we get need in return. I doubt he falls to 11.

I've seen a few of these mock drafts now that have the Canucks picking this kid at #11.

"11. Vancouver Canucks: Tom Willander, RD, Rögle BK J20 (J20 Nationell)
Vancouver is yet another team with great need on the right side of defense and at center, and with Reinbacher, Dvorsky, and Danielson off the board, I have them taking Tom Willander, a big, right-handed defender who skates like a dream
."

A perfectly defendable pick and anyone that says it’s a reach and we can trade down and select him is an idiot. Clearly the 2nd best D in this draft and could end up being the best

Read that also & looked into Willander more. 1st off Danielson won’t be gone. Those others probably. Willander has certainly played into the picture & looks like an ideal pick at 11. Keeping the pick will leave some interesting prospects to pick from. Don’t see it but adding a top half 2nd pick would be a stellar move with this deep draft & get more D.

My trade down is our 11th for the Hawks 19th & 35th. Take BDA available then BDA (Simashev) then maybe another D if not dried up.

If Willander there at 19 fun fun choice. If not the 39th & it’s 45th might still like swapping picks.

With the Hawks winning Bedard it’s quite conceivable with the TB 19th & 3-2nds could look to move up in the draft. Wings might as well with their 2nd 1sts at 17th & 41 42 & 43rd. Preds at 15 24 46 & 47th for another.

Dont worry he is over 6ft so he will be on the teams DND list

The fact he's a swede makes it very possible as we know. Let the high fiving begin!

From Twitterverse…

“Carter Sotheran (#59 in black) has some bombs in that right hand of his.

He's a 6'3", right-shot defenceman from the Portland Winterhawks in the WHL who would be a nice pickup for the Canucks in the third round if he's there at 75.”

I was reading Frankie Serav and he suggested Parayko might be available for a trade. It will cost you but he has a great cap hit for seven more years until age 37. A right side of Parayko Hronek might not be too shabby. I would think it would cost you two first rounders at least but would you?

No, too old! I think they’ve said 25 and under is what they’re seeking.

I would. He reminds me a bit like Pietrangelo whose contract runs out at 37 also. Like I said I would like a right side of Parayko and Hronek for the next five years. Add Hughes to that and the D is looking better.

What exactly have you seen in this player to believe that?

Although I did watch a lot of him in the u18s and he was good. 11 I'd say would be a reach on potential unless you believe about 10 other players won't reach theirs.

If the Canucks had a 100+ point team and just lost in the third round, then yeah, maybe he’d be a guy that put you over the top. The Canucks aren’t that. Great player though.

That's got to be the work of Logan Horn then. He's good for throwing the current hype up way higher than most.

You get rid of some of the bad contracts and AHL players like Dries Studnicka Pizzaman and replace them with Parayko Bjustadt and Halloway and I would bet they would be closer to 100 points than waiting for the right time (which is never).

It has been hockey talk only here the last few hours. I wonder if someone came in with a ban hammer?
