I don't think they are in a "win now" mode as far as winning the Stanley Cup, they are however in a be more competitive mode because in a gate driven league they need fan interest to turn a profit. Which means they need to be more competitive on the ice.

Again, like CBJ, I don't think they're stupid enough (they aren't) to think they're Cup competitive, they do however want to be playoff competitive. As I've said many, many, times, I just don't see them trading the 11th overall unless someone throws them a no-brainer.

I am more interested in Juulsen than Schenn for a bottom RHD (cheaper). I know I have to let go of Burroughs also but I liked his heart and willingness. That is who I would carry as the 7 and 8 D.

Through all of my CF roster efforts it always circles back to D & how much cap is stuck there & the logjam created. Resigning Bear seems obvious unless traded. That speaks for 3 RHD with him Hronek & Myers. On the left side Hughes & stuck with OEL. Not much room left but cheap D from within seems likely. Looking like pretty much status quotes unless a big package happens barring Myers gone somehow. So after all of that rambling keeping the 11th is better than 50/50.

Wolanin should get a shot as the spare LHD unless Bones beats him out.

CBJ have had five 1st round picks in the past two drafts, three defensemen and two centers. If they take Carlsson it’ll be 3/3.
