In Calgary a 60 point player gets 10.5, so Canucks are getting a deal.

A lot are saying he took a very large step. That first step he took from Belarus jr to AHL was a stupid one by Benning. He should have went to the Q for two seasons but that's hindsight really.

In saying that he needs to continue to be better this season, needs to secure a regular top 6 role in the AHL. Special teams and be consistent a better portion of the nights.

He has a very good shot, he is a good passer, he is tenacious, good puck retrieval.

I get that you and a bunch of people here don't like him but I will be honest I don't think a lot of people here, myself and you included have very good evaluation skills of young players. So I let everyone chirp about their opinions but it doesn't mean I pay attention to them.

This site would be pretty boring if we all had the same opinions. He is an average sized, non tenacious winger with a decent shot. Can’t recall him displaying decent playmaking even in the A. This was a prospect a despised in his draft year due to his small brain, confidence and production. He hasn’t corrected any of his deficiencies from when he was a teanager. Imo, if he has any value move on

I can use patience on Leki it’s Klimovich that I really want to see take a huge step after some seasoning in the AHL as a very young prospect. Needs to come out of the gate flying like he finished off last season. Time to make a big impact.

No reason to rush anyone anymore. I am looking forward to D Petey , I think he has an Edler style and more than five letters in his last name.

They're hip to reclamation projects, so possible.

The one I will look out for this season probably the most is Oliver Wahlstrom on the Island.

Exactly so I don't think they will trade down from 11 th to 19 th and Myers will still be a Canuck July first aand then traded to a team not on the list with 3 mil retained and a secound round pick attached to the trade. Then they will sign Bear at 2.2 mil which I am not a fan of.
- VANTEL

Yup that’s all pretty much bang on. Time for that to change & knowing the Canucks nothing is ever a certainty no matter who is at the wheel.

22 year old six foot six , 220 lbs. When I seen him play he is always strong on the body. I don't know what you guys are expecting at Draft spot 11. I would say another Lickhermaki type or Hirose type of D. The top players will be gone. Yes now and then you hit on a McCann or a Boldy after top 10 but most times you will get a Fabro or Gaunce.

Lets face it I am not as high on the draft as you guys are outside the top five.

I was big on him but NYI plays a boring D game & stifles players offence. Change of scenery would help him.

He would have left any Canadian team. How was the cup he brought to calgary? Or the two anchor contracts he left you w?

Of course there are players every year that shine but more players in the first round that don't shine than do. Let's be honest Tkachuck should have been chosen fifth that year but instead we all watched one of the biggest draft blunders ever at #five

And why one WJC means nothing vs the overall body of work & success. In the case of ASP he has continued to impress after not even considered top 4 on Swedens WJC team to start out. Still his D is a black hole but a team out there will fit him in nicely.

Well I agree wih Mini on this stop trading 22-year-olds for old garbage. Wait until the players are 24 or older before calling them busts.
- VANTEL

You know to add to your point

2017 draft class was 23/24 years old this season.

11 players last season broke .50 ppg. 17 did this year.

I would think having a different play making center would help him quite a bit. He has struggled with pace a bit. Quite physical but not fast. I could see him putting up 40-50 this season if he is healthy.

I can’t believe how many fanboys insisted he had trade value all season. Idiots!
- CanuckDon

He did but only under other clubs assumptions that The Canucks would retain 2.5 million which they weren’t ready to do.

First round has an almost 80% success rate these days of a player playing 200 plus NHL games. It's also much more rare to find a "star" outside of the first round anymore.

ASP is actually the only player that I've seen a few analytics people say has real top pairing potential.

Yes lots will play 200 games but the key word was shine. If Gaunce plays a full season this year he will hit 200 games but I would not think of a star lever player if he hits 200.

Wahlstrom has 163 games and 32 goals 69 pts. Again a serviceable player but does not shine

Well that literally means he had no trade value. He has negative value given his contract. So no he didn’t. That’s like saying OEL has trade value but clubs want us to retain $6.5MM for the next 4 years

Gaunce is a long time ago.

There isn't a lot of stars available in each draft but that's doesn't mean you either get a star or Gaunce. There's a in-between to that.

His offence has gotten him into those talks. He could be a real gem to the right team. I like him if we add more big defensive D. Then again he’s not NHL ready so there is time to address that. D Petey would be a nice start if he keeps projecting well along with 1 other vet.
