I wonder how she's getting so much more access...

Probably the glare off that big ass forehead. Disorients whoever she’s interviewing and they leak info on accident.

Whats this based on? his superstitious game day habits?

Just feel there's been an awful lot of Penguins roster change ups the past 18 years for this to be a thing...regarding players, anyway. Also, Im not so sure he'd want to roll with the roster that didnt get them in for the first time in 16 seasons.

All the beat guys say it constantly when they're on the radio. TIFWIW.

Can someone summarize the yohe article that just came out about Hextall? I’d like a reason to be angry this AM.
- Brownsoldier

Amazing the "CTL A" trick still works for a site like The Athletic. Here are the details:

-FSG instructed Burke/Hextall to prioritize resigning Malkin/Letang. Hextall insulted Malkin with a low ball offer and it was Crosby/Sullivan who worked to bring Malkin back to the negotiating table.

-Hextall got daily questions from FSG on why Malkin hadnt been resigned, pretty much everyone involved in the Penguins organization was coming after Burke made comments about how the negotiations were going badly and when reports said Malkin would test free agency.

-Sounds like Malkin was in a bad spot mentality before he signed the new deal. Hextall bragged to his associates that he had gotten Malkin down to his terms.

-Hextall complained to Chris Pryor how he had been brought in to do a rebuild and how FSG didnt know hockey, and how Sullivan/FSG were so tight. Sullivan worked out a new contract directly with FSG, ignoring Hextall. Hextall and Sully dont talk, but Sully asked Hextall to go out and get Chychrun. Sullivan mentioned him specifically.

-Hextall said Sullivan was holding Kapanen back. Sullivan didnt like the Ruuta signing and bringing Kapanen back. Crosby was upset at how Blueger was traded. Blueger learned of the trade via social media while the team was at a steakhouse on their dad's trip.

Oh right on...thats the first I ever heard tell of something like that regarding Sid and the rosters over the years. You Pittsburgh natives are privy to all the radio and TV coverage and analysis. When I was in Pittsburgh I was just on cloud 9 with the abundance or Penguins stuff in my face, eyes and ears. It was amazing.

If the Penguins hire Dubas, does anyone think the reason why we kept Hextall this year is because Dubas was always FSG's target but knew they couldnt hire him until this summer?

Nah, I think it's because they were new to hockey and had to educate themselves before making a truly informed decision.

It's really not that revelatory. These guys become family after several years together.

Back to the Hextall.... Madden said he was told that Burke wanted Hextall fired so he could take over. Pretty comical how dysfunctional management became in such short time. That's how you miss the playoffs lol.

Yeah but how many times do you hear players talking about how they understand its all part of the business and what not? They've been having changes of teammates since they were 5 years old.

hahaha thats funny about Burke. Thankfully that didnt happen.

Wow. Hextall is a POS but this is certainly a complicated mess. Glad a reset button was hit.

No it’s just fortuitous timing. The GM market was stacked this off-season. I’m a bit let down we didn’t go Tulsky but if Dubas is the guy I’m happy with that.

Also Morehouse wanted to bring in a GM who specifically would break up Sid, Geno and Letang and Hextall was the only GM who would accept the job but when new ownership came in they demanded he be resigned.

Sully's extension wasn't even signed by Hextall, it was signed by FSG behind Hextall's back.

Sid, Letang, FSG and Sully all wanted Geno back.

Edit: Some of that was in the post you quoted, I skimmed it and missed some, mah bad for repeating poop.

Yeah holy poop. I thought he was just a bum, didn’t know he was a complete ass. No wonder Yohe has not even pretended to not absolutely hate this guy.

Don’t love the FSG-Sully straight line thing but I’m hoping that fixes itself when FSG gets their guy in the GM seat and a more normal chain of command is established.

The one thing I do appreciate is Sully wanted Hextall to make trades and improve the team. At least his mind was in the right place.

Wild that they didn't even talk.

It would have been a really good move too. The Chychrun trade was so reasonable and would have been a solid course correct from trading Marino, although the missed opportunity to pair Chychrun and Marino will haunt me. Their games would complement each other so well.

Chychrun. Bertuzzi. Vrana. Deals were reasonable everywhere.
