TK to the blues for their last 2 1st rd picks + prospect+ cap dump

Maybe expand it to include Ivan.

Hayes with 50% may be of some interest to Colorado.

Again the flyers have several players with real value. Will believe it when I see it that they will move said players.

- hello it's me 2050

Maybe we can take this season's version of Jori Lehtera off their hands

How connected was his dad in 1986? He was like 5 years into his first NHL GM job with the Atlanta Flames. Not exactly a high profile job at the time. Chuck was a horrible GM. Doesn’t mean he wasn’t a bright kid who got into Harvard on merit.

I have to resort to checking such things, given the meagerness of my knowledge of hockey history, but from Wikipedia:

Fletcher's general manager career started in the Central Hockey League with the Kansas City Blues when he was awarded the top job in January 1971 during a mid-season shake-up that also saw John Choyce appointed as the team's new head coach.[3] In 1972, he accepted the opportunity to run an NHL team when offered the GM position in Atlanta.
Flames

Fletcher joined the newly minted expansion Atlanta Flames team as general manager, remaining with the Flames in that capacity through and after the team's move to Calgary, Alberta in 1980. Over the next 10 years, he oversaw the Calgary Flames to two Smythe division titles, two Clarence S. Campbell Bowls as Campbell Conference champions, and two Presidents' Trophies, given to the team with the best NHL regular season record. During his tenure in Calgary, he was the first GM to bring a player from the Soviet Union when Sergei Priakin played in 1988. The Flames won the Stanley Cup Championship in 1989 against the Montreal Canadiens.

He also served as the GM of Team Canada for the 1981 Canada Cup.

I would think there would be a pretty strong hockey culture at Harvard, and even more so in those days.

(Incidentally, did you read the revelations in the Athletic about the going-ons with their women's team?)

Absolutely, maybe Chuck left us with a few nice things after all lol

No the criticism is mostly deserved. Brent Flahr is in charge of scouting and drafting.

I just feel like there’s plenty to criticize about the job CF did here Don’t need to go accusing him of not getting into college on merit. I feel like being the GM of the Atlanta Flames in 1986 wouldn’t be all that impressive.

I don’t know anything about Harvard’s woman’s team. I dont subscribe to the Athletic. I’ve been thinking maybe I need to tho.

I'm not falling for it again.

I remember feeling optimistic about Hexy when he first got here from LA, hoping he'd push the franchise into the 21st century, but it was just more of the same unfortunate go-with-the-gut type of decision making. Then Fletch came in with his Harvard Law degree and all the talk of expanding the department... and ended up making even bigger avoidable mistakes like RR and Hayes.

Camillo will call Danny B "analytical" all she wants, but I'm not buying any of it. It certainly doesn't smell like some new analytical dawn, especially with Torts firmly entrenched and looming over everything. What Jonesy thinks about any of it is probably gonna be irrelevant anyway.

- Tomahawk

Briere doesn’t even have a college degree. Calling him analytical is a farce. Guy probably never even stepped foot in a basic stats class lol.

Question for the mass. Seravelli stating Columbus feels they can get back into the playoffs next year with moves. 22nd in play for top 4 defender. Also heard they might want to move Roslovic. Would you build something around Provorov, Hayes(money retained) and see if you can get 22nd in some sort of package? Would it make sense for the Flyers if they could get Roslovic in it to? He is only 26 with one more year at 4 mil. You could always flip him at deadline then.

Thoughts?

- J35Bacher

7th overall and Provy for 3rd overall and one of their prospects.

From years of the Flyers trying to get D men I can confidently tell Columbus they aren’t getting a useful top 4 D man with the 22nd overall pick.

I want two assets for Provy. A first round pick and something else.
- mickel25

Might not be possible based on his cap number and play. Unless there's a Chuck Fletcher out there who will just ignore all his deficiencies, lol.

I doubt Oppenheimer or Einstein would have changed the destiny for this organization. But they were suddenly the best on crushing numbers.

Not law. I dunno what he studied but it was not a grad degree.

With how well connected his dad was, and given that the Boston Cambridge area is full of this WASPy legacy types, I have a pretty good idea how he got in.

- PT21

Oh, dunno why I remembered him having a JD. Maybe b/c he worked for Don Meehan before Clarkie hired him in Florida, I must have thought he was a player agent lol.

And yeah, that was still during the era when knowing somebody still carried a stupid amount of weight in admissions. And Harvard was still accepting 15-20% of applicants instead of whatever tiny number it is now.

I would do Provorov and the 7th for their 3rd straight up.

It'll be closer to provy, TK, our 7th + more to even sniff the 3rd overall pick, unfortunately

Edit.... unless they hire feltcher, then we have a shot at 3rd overall

Probably the wrong thing to take from this but did they actually introduce the front office with player jerseys? LOL.

Maybe they'll be out on the ice evaluating players or might take the odd shift.

If you were Jarmo would you trade Michkov, Carlsson or Smith for Provy?

No, I wouldn't. I was only responding to the original trade proposal that had Provy, 7th for the 3rd and a prospect. I thought that was asking way more than they would get from Columbus.

I honestly don't think they trade the 3rd to anyone. Especially not for anything we have to offer.

If I were to be perfectly honest, I don't see Provorov getting a first from any team realistically unless its a late first. Definitely NOT the #3.

He absolutely could get a first, obviously not #3 but teens twenties. Especially if we retain some salary, which should be on the table.

They have had a hard luck series. 3 games each decided by 1 goal and 5 periods of overtime. Bob is playing out of his mind right now, if he wasn't it could be 3-0 the other way.

Who was it that gave me such a hard time for even suggesting the very thought of Florida rallying around Bob once they replaced Alex Lyon? “There was no rally!” “You hate Alex Lyon!” Are you kidding me! How I feel about Lyon was never apart of my opinion. Boston should have beat Florida and the turning point was Bob, who very well might win the Conn Smyth. It’s him or Tkachuk. My vote goes to Tkachuk but Bob is very deserving.
