Dubois has been adamant that he did not go to the 2022 draft in Montreal with the expectation that he would be traded to the Canadiens. That may be true but it doesn’t change Montreal’s interest in the player, the player’s interest in Montreal and the fact that the Jets and Canadiens talked trade multiple times last summer. One version of the discussion I’ve heard says Winnipeg was after Nick Suzuki — a non-starter for Montreal — while the Canadiens tried to build a package around Christian Dvorak, Josh Anderson and a first-round pick. I think a package involving Kirby Dach and futures might be a way for the teams to meet in the middle.

I am still on the fence about trading the Florida pick, but given it is likely gonna be 31 or 32, maybe that changes my mind. However, I would not add much more to the offer.
