Dubas is originally from Peterborough and the Pete’s are one game away from knocking the Knights out of the playoffs.

This adds up so damn much

- Dozzer

Actually Dubas is from Sault Ste. Marie originally, his dad was an intern with the Soo Greyhounds and it was a family thing because his grandfather was a coach of the team in the 60's.

Dubas could move to the Sault and live an exceptional life with what he has in the bank now, the cost of living up there and what you can do if you love the outdoors is unbelievable.

It'll be interesting to see what he does, I do take him at face value when he says he won't be popping up anywhere else next season but I could totally see him in a GM or AGM role next year somewhere in pro hockey.

I was hoping today's occurrence would stop some of the tiring posts about his apparent ineptitude and being the worst GM ever from some but it's clear that isn't gong to happen any time soon. Now it's just a "they waited too long" &/or "he was fired, it wasn't his decision to leave!" female dogfest

Fun times

Gotta think this is the last kick at the can for Shanny as far as getting the right GM in place and the right moves being made or he gets the heave ho (as he should if they can't find success). Good god please don't go and get someone else's garbage like Stan Bowman

Maybe they need to go back to the old Pat Quinn style of coach/GM? lol

I am going to guess they bump up Pridham if they value him and don't want to lose him AND if he even wants the gig.

This is going to be an interesting summer for sure in Leaf land.

Oh and Keefe has to be gone - I just can't see them keeping him now not even to start the year but WTF do I know?

Surprising nothing has been announced on Keefe yet. Can't see him being behind the bench next year. You'd think Shanahan would want to address it all today and not wait.
- floater_willy

I think he has 1 more year on his contract, so yeah he can go as well.

Damn...I knew Matthews situation was complicated with his NMC kicking in on July 1st and he can't be signed to a new contract before that. Didn't realize Tavares has a NMC and Marner's NMC also kicks in on July 1st....then Nylander has a NTC with 10 teams he can't be traded to also kicking in on July 1st.

and no GM at the moment

- Symba007

They’ve got a deal with Hunter (who apparently turned down an interview with the Flames) ready to go. Running a sports conglomerate is easy.

Didn't want to long cat Aaron, but my only contention is that the Leafs have had terrible teams and no amazing accomplishments, even blips on the radar other than maybe 93 and Matthews' last season since the Cup wins. It's not just winning. It's that they are an original 6 team with some of the worst "legends" in hockey...and guys like Mats etc. are great, but you look at almost every other team and you can see superstars with more pedigree or fabled runs. The Blues are a great example. They had Hull and MacIniss. Name me better players that ever played for the Leafs other than Leetch (remember that?!) in the past 40 years?
- AdamFrench

You got that right. When they named the top 100 it was one of the most embarrassing things I’ve ever seen as a lifelong fan.

That'll really make Toronto an attractive destination for players if they hire a guy who ignored sexual assault against a player and then lied about it. Solid, solid move.

It showed during the press conference he didn't feel like doing another year , especially with a young family and everything. Probably one of those cases where he will be fully committed once the kids grow up and are out of the house. Aside from that, he could easily land a consulting job.

lmfaooooooooo 🤣

I’m a Dubas fan but I think the Press Release strongly suggests he was fired.

The Pridham question is tough. If I had to guess I’d say they value him but not necessarily in the GM spot even though losing him and Dubas at the same time would be tough.

Hunter won’t trade Marner. The Sens will have to make do with Matthews.

This is a highly difficult problem.

If the Rags want to hire Q, Bettman approves.

If the Leafs want to hire Q, he won't.

Let me fill you in. He's didn't want to swing the hatchet at Keefe and or Willie. Heard it here first.
