You have to think this was Dubas' decision.
Would be tough to have outsider come in and make the decisions that need to be made in such a short period of time.
1. NMC for Matthews / Marner
2. Draft
Right around the corner
Shanahan probably handles GM duties with Pridham through the draft and Matthews extension and obviously new GM hire.
Decision on Marner / Nylander trade need to happen quick too.

Edit: Looks like press release says "Club has decided to part ways". So he got fired.

I know you edited your post...but if the team had wanted Dubas to stay, they would have signed him to an extension.. His contract was already coming to an end after this past season.

So...if I were to guess...with zero information

Shanny won the war and will remain President.

They will either promote Pridham or hire Tulsky.

They will bring in an old hand as an AGM like Jim Benning to be the "minder"

- AdamFrench

I'm hoping promote Pridham to GM. Hire Brunette as coach.

And most importantly, stay away from failures like Benning and Chiarelli.

Meh. He was good not great. Made his share of mistakes like every GM.
Let go of Verhaeghe and Marchment for nothing.
Protected Holl over McCann in expansion draft.
for instance.

Leafs have a lot of big decisions to make very quickly and it's obvious they didn't want Dubas to make them.

They usually recycle dinosaurs in sports executive suites, so I'd expect some big name that's coming off some other diaper fire elsewhere, right?

I feel like we will get both. If they hire a boy wunder (under 50 individual), the board will want an old hand as an AGM to be sitting there.

Dreger saying on TSN1050 that he thinks Treliving and Bowman will be leading GM candidates.

Exactly. I also believe there are US teams who have more than enough $ to give him what he wants.
- Dozzer

I'm going to guess this had less to do with the environment in the city and more to do with the travel and pressures and absences away from young kids.

When they asked if he would leave for another organization and he said 'no', you could call it posturing (like some will), but if you take it at face value along with his comment about wanting to talk with his family about it - it more speaks to a person who wasn't there enough for his family, not that the external environment is the problem.

Don't get me wrong - Toronto CAN be - but do you know who Dubas' wife is - or his kids? I don't.

Then make Treliving or someone that guy.

He'll probably get a GM job offer in a year or so, so add him as a place holder.

It's pretty clear MLSE has decided a very large culture change is required in the hockey Dept. Things waaay too comfortable for too long for too many.

Perhaps Dubas' strange behaviour of late was due to a private marijuana addiction.

His potential extension was obviously tied to playoff performance. If this team got past Florida he probably stays.

The press release says "the Leafs have parted ways with Dubas".

MLSE's decision.

- fifty__missions

It was reported by Friedman on the 15th that Dubas had stepped down. My guess it was a mutual understanding and this is how Dubas gets paid the rest of his contract or something like that. Anyways here’s the tweet:

Had a feeling he wasn’t liking the Toronto attention for his family. Can’t blame him.
- Dozzer

I think this has more to do with his position and what kind of autonomy he was being offered.
