I doubt the heavier parts were untrue.

1. No contract offer last summer
2. After TDL Shanny says we're ready to do this if you are
3. Shanny makes offer prior to playoffs
4. Dubas takes time and tells them he needs time day before presser
5. Shanny goes into zen-like reflection mode
6. Dubas counters on Thursday
7. Shanny gets Mexican take out ...decides to sleep on it ..has a rough night due to Mexican take out and Dubas stress. Wakes up, poops, and decides that's a sign he needs to flush Dubas.

I'm thinking Treliving is on route. Or maybe they say (frank) it and go Bowman and Q. What would this league do without the Leafs and the drama.

You’re probably pretty close with your assessment. Also some big egos involved, Shanny might have thought screw you Dubas, you should be thrilled that you even got another chance to run the team.

I think he did a pretty good job overall too. I don't even hate Toronto fans like most everyone else. What I can't grasp is how someone who is having issues with media pressure then states they'll only be in Toronto or not working next year. It's not logically consistent to me. Maybe he doesn't like the options available right now and waits for another year, but there are ~25 markets that would not have the media stress of anything like Toronto.

I believe his young family was suffering from all that the job brought. The time & pressure of the job isn’t so easily cast off. As for Toronto only imo he’s only further stating it wasn’t a hockey decision but about stepping back to be a family man 1st.

The Leafs have only one a single game post-first round in the past 19 years.

I'm not sure why I should care much about "the plan" anymore.

- mjones242

im not talking about the plan.

The leafs are still a good team. id hope they get someone who can take them over the top...but im skeptical they are a better team next season

Like I said, I like Toronto's team and what Dubas has done. I have no ill will against the organization at all. Dubas with full autonomy in Pittsburgh would be a good thing. Maybe not optimal but still much improved over the retards running most NHL orgs. I don't know if the challenging pressures were media, organizational, or both. Regardless, I very much believe that is uniquely excessive in Toronto relative to other organizations in the league. If he is deadset on staying in Toronto and not relocating he's earned it. Though I am skeptical he'll find anything approaching similar compensation.

I caught some of Shanahan rehashing the process (met with him on Sunday, we talked, presented offer, he did the thing and said the stuff and I was surprised, and then I got to thinking . . .) but had to stop listening. Was there any commentary on what they are looking for going forward or what they're doing with Keefe?

I would have thought they'd look internally - Gilman and Carbery getting consideration and if they don't fit the bill, look externally. I still think Tulsky or Botterill getting more consideration over guys who were recently fired. Bowman I would stay 100 miles away from. He is not his father. Treliving is interesting in that he made some really good moves but also some poor moves, but he had the Flames back in contender status.

Both made it to the second interview rounds with FSG. Hoping you aholes don't steal them as Botterill as Pres. and Tulsky as GM are my optimal preferences.

They are a good regular season team but it's pretty clear that the Core 4, as it has been constructed, is: a) not effective in post-season hockey -and- b) devours too much of the cap.

So I think "the plan" is what we're always talking about when it comes to execs and long term team strategy.

As an aside: gotta think that Shanny's leash has just shortened considerably.

He was also in the 2nd round. Chayka has a lot of FSG connections so I suspect it'll be him as GM and Botterill at Pres. Tulsky might not want to be micromanaged with oversight, but he is BRILLIANT and I suspect the person behind Carolina's success more than Waddell. If I were Toronto, that is who I would want.

the shammiplan has clearly failed🤦‍♂️

after listening to the presser, it’s clear that he was conned by kylie into firing sweet lou and babs then riding the corpse 4 into a mountain🤦🏿‍♂️

he was thinking about resigning🤣

hopefully, for our sake, shammy learned a thing or two after all of these years and millions of income and actually cares about winning a championship😍🤞🏿

i’m thinking jfj jr and dallas eakins😍

For all the money the leafs make and fork out they better hope they made the right decision.

I wish someone asked shanahan at the presser if he thinks there is someone on the open market that can do a better job then Dubas.
