Bertuzzi would be a god send for this team. Exact prototype of what we need.

Zucker sounded legit about wanting to come back. I would not rule it out. I’m interested what we do with 3C. That’s what will make or break this team.

Unrelated but I’m really pissed off thinking about a POJ-Marino second pairing. I feel like those two would mesh really well.

He'd be my 1st target. Like an oasis in the desert.

I think they would have been a really good shutdown 2nd pairing. Offense may not have been there, but they would probably come out on top on the goals for/against battle.

3C I think the Pens have a lot of options if they are willing to buyout Granlund.

Compher, Barbashev, Domi, ROR, maybe even some lesser guys that could fit the role.

I don’t see how we could create the cap for O’Rielly but somewhere Palmer would blow a gasket

I think he'll sign in the 4-5m range unless he takes a discount to stay with TOR.

He had a rough go in STL but he was pretty solid in TOR.

He's exactly the kinda player Toronto needs. Complete player, something they are missing in that top 6.

Guys like ROR, Bertuzzi, Domi, etc. should all be targets. Selling them on signing here will be a challenge.

Better be prepared to give him 6-7 years. Apparently he really wants term.

He was but that was 4 years ago. He’s now a 32 year old center that plays a style that doesn’t age well.

If they're not going to rebuild, which they aren't, I'm fine with it. Might as well get the exact kind of pieces they need for a couple of competitive years.

Has it set in yet that you’re in the old man club now? It really hit me recently when I realized I rarely get ID’d anymore. Like cashiers don’t even hesitate. Just like have a great day sir.

I agree. I think Bertuzzi for his style gets paid more then projections, but he'd be the forward I'd most stretch to get.

Threw this together:https://www.capfriendly.c.../armchair-gm/team/4125456

Pens got some options.

Contract projections were based off of Evolving Wild's projects except Zucker who took a small discount to stay in Pittsburgh.

I really like Bertuzzi and Barbashev as targets. I think that might be a little too much of a shave for Zucker.

Thing is I think you did about as well as you could without trading a 1st or something, and it still doesn't excite me.

I don't love our D though there's little to do about it. Pettersson and Petry would be hard to upgrade on and Smith and POJ deserve to play. Ruhwedel was a little scary but Friedman maybe as an option. (You can see why they wanted Ruuta).

And Anderson backed by Smith feels like changing the deck chairs. I wouldn't be fully confident in him, but he might be great, same as Jarry. I'd probably still try to run a tandem and try and find a bargain forward over AA and still not sure that fits.

Oh yeah I don’t like CDS either but it was more of an exercise to see what kind of contracts they can sign some UFAs to. I like the idea of Anderson over Jarry because I don’t think they have to commit to long term like they do with Jarry.

I would prefer someone like Gudas on the third pair next to Smith but he’s who knows what he’s going to want after this FLA run.

I think the D can be decent if they’re healthy. The problem last year is Letang, Petry, Pettersson and Rutta were alllll injured so we never really got to see what the D could do when they were healthy.

Struggling with it a lot. I feel like mentally I’m still such a huge college kid but also I have two kids so that clash is extremely overwhelming. I think I just have this picture of adults from my childhood as people that know how to juggle all their responsibilities and in my twenties I thought I wasn’t living up to that but now I think I’m coming to grips with the idea that no one knows what they’re doing ever and everyone is just doing the best they can. Somewhat liberating.

Idk I’ve been drinking manhattans with my church group. I’m just riffin’.

I honestly think jarry is getting two maybe three years max regardless of where he goes. The injury concern is the worst I’ve seen in a goalie in a bit.

I'm going to be 40 in less than 2 weeks. I'm totally okay with that. Now, 50 on the other hand...

Fvcking right, man. Absolutely.

The 30's are the best, man. Felt younger and healthier than my 20's. In much better shape than my 20's. Just take much better care of myself overall. Understand myself and life much better, and appreciate so much more. Realized that my sh!t stinks too, everybody's does.

hahaha yeah 50 seems like a whole new ballgame.

I remember some stress and concern about turning 30, totally do. It was unwarranted.
