I just read that also, wow!!! Here is the headline:
Arizona voters sent a billion dollar message to their NHL team last night: We're not that into you - glennjpawlak22
All they had to do was buy the old Coliseum/State Fairgrounds property in Phoenix proper and make it happen. |

would that logo be allowed for a "NEW" franchise? - powerenforcer
You're right. It would probably be a riderless pony.

KD said he was not using all this year’s early round picks with such certainty, I wonder if he has one or more deals locked in and both teams just do not want to announce them now because they do not want to take any attention away from the playoffs. |

Do the Hawks take on a big contract along with other assets?
OR
Do they play the middle man in a deal taking 50% of a bad contract for a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd this year or next? |

Vancouver trades garland the 11th overall pick to Chicago for entwhistle and 44th 2nd
Hawks trade the 55th 2nd 67th 3rd Pitt for the 14th overall pick. Then hawks package the 14th and 19th pick to Arizona for 6th overall pick. Thoughts?

If it is just picks, Pitt isn't giving up the 14th for a 2nd and 3rd. |

Chuck add to the trade what salary dump would Pitt need to get rid of or what player on the hawks would Pitt be interested in? |

My wish list is simple.
Connor Bedard with the the first pick:
No matter what happens in terms of traders, I want:
Samuel Honzek big winger, needs a little quicker first step otherwise, cooking.
Otto Stenberg and scoring / offensive generator with big time jump and finishing power.
I don't know how we squeeze these three first rounders out two picks.
BUT I am fairly certain Nate Danielson,Ryan Leonard,Gabriel Perreault, Matthew Wood and RD Axel Sandin Pelikkaare off the board by #19
If they are gone I hope my some luck, super pinpoint shpoter/passer Eduard Sale, super skater Oliver Moore, Jesse Kiiskinen, and the still developing Callum Ritchie,
The #35 is where I lock in on Kasper Halttunen if I am fairly certain he lasts,
same goes for big C David Edstrom, but it would be now or gone....iF EITHER is there.
...and see Charlie Stramel as a perfect fit at #44, with the hunt for a goalie and more fire power |

Not really sure about how useful players on PIT are (i.e. do they want/need to get rid of a specific player). I'm just saying, if they are trading the 14th in this draft. They are getting a later 1st rounder and another later pick. |

Yeah, it's pretty clear that besides the minor signing of a Euro UFA or a leaving college player (drafted ir not) that deals are not announced.
The draft floor and time makes them bigger news, more Bally ho then any announcements earlier, and I think there just might be an understanding about not announcing things like this.
Besides both the hawks and their trade partner wouldn't want to give a head start to everyone else by announcing early; You do it when the pick comes up, you are not allowing all the other GMs to have weeks but minutes/hour to re-calcualte their boards their chances at players now that the new trade Amy be a player they didn't think the picks original owner was going to make.
The surprise of a trade above you might cause enough confusion to change teams targets to other positions, etc.

42 days until the draft and 45 days until free agency. That seems like an eternity when we're waiting for the Hawks to draft Bedard then (hopefully) bring in some talent to support him. - DarthKane
LOL
It is funny how we are all recharged!

Gotta wonder what it’d take for KD to land Boeser and #11. - Assman22
It would take
a lot of worry for Cap relief,
Many Russian and Swedish players on the board in the mid second and 3rd,
and whomever they are attracted to.
(and Boesner is not that good a skater on his pins.)
Change the topic:
I thought about Corey Proman's NHL comparison of Bedard-->David Pastrnak
I never attempt this leap of imaginary faith that some kid is "like" and true NHLer.
I thought a lot about this for weeks and I think I understand why he uses Pasta.
But....I am no Bruins expert, but does he score a lot of goals from a standing still position??????
Conner don't play dat...he is moving.
and go watch yourself some of this Russian kid I love:

Is Arizona going to stay in Arizona? I read that their deal for a new stadium just fell through. They can't have a huge payroll playing on a college rink. Think Quebec might be back in the mix? I know this is off topic, I just found it interesting. What is the commissioner going to do? - bjphawkfan
Arizona has been subsidized by the league for years so their payroll isn't an issue.
Quebec is not an option because it doesn't open up another market to bring in anything more than gate revenues. TV money where its at.
Relocation cities I could see are Salt Lake City or Atlanta. Houston and KC would be expansion cities is my off the cuff guess. |

The leafs would never allow it for one. And again, it doesn't open up any new market of fans.
plus, isn't Hamilton a dump? |

Friedman mentioned Sacramento while rattling off prospective cities for a Coyotes move this morning. I don't see it happening, but I'm sure Bettman would love to have a 4th team in California, he'd call it the Gretzky division. |

Just like Wirtz would never allow Milwaukee (although they did allow the NBA franchise).
wonder if they would recycle Hartford or Cleveland

Sacramento is another city that doesn't open a new market considering its proximity to San Jose. There would be some overlap and reduce the potential fans of both teams, IMO.
The owner of the Utah Jazz really wants a NHL team and would do a lot of PR work to promote the hell out of the sport in that market. Plus, there are already indications he has been working behind the scenes alreeady. |

I think they will try new markets before those two and if I were to guess a city getting another chance, it would be Atlanta especially if they could get black ownership involved.
From what I recall it was inept ownership that sunk the Thrashers and not so much the fan base.
