On the 24-25 roster, besides Jones and Murphy, I would expect Bedard, Raddysh, Katchouk, Kurashev, Reichel, Vlasic, Phillips, Soderblum to be on it. Maybe Guttman or Entwistle too. In addition, a couple of free agents signed this summer to 2 to 3 year contracts will be playing. That's about 13-14 players.
Del Mastro, Allan, Korchinski, Nazar probably marinating in Rockford during 24-25 and will get cups of coffee with the big club.
Still a lot of roster spots to fill. Unless someone really surprises, last year's draftees and the remaining 2023 draftees probably won't be playing with the Hawks until at least 25-26 or 26-27. - boilermaker100
I’m wondering if/when Dach might make his mark as well. He seems to be playing pretty well right now. He also seems to be more willing than his brother to go straight to the net. |

Yeah forgot about him. Probably a year in Rockford then seeing some time at the UC 24-25. |

Don't forget Kaiser, BM. Kid looks like he has a real chance to be 2nd pairing NHL quality. In fact, he should be a Hawk for yrs starting next season.
Reading around some think Korchinski will be a Hawk at 19/20 yrs old next yr. I guess we'll see how he looks at camp but I doubt, hope, the Hawks don't rush him. Sucks he has to go back to jrs for another yr but my guess is that's the route they choose unless they give him the Shane Wright path of 9 NHL games, practice with the club, AHL rehab, WJC then back to jrs.

I like your guess. Maximize exposure to next levels of hockey, while allowing him to marinate while still very young. |

I’d rather win cups and be in cap hell.
- Angotti
If there is a way to win a cup(s) and stay out of cap hell I hope KD and Company can find it. ....... I guess if there is a way starting from scratch, the way KD has chosen, would be the way to set the ground work.

Let Korchinski come to camp, review his game with him, outline a plan on what he needs to work on then send him right back to Seattle. There is no reason to start messing with him. He’s got some real upside to his game but I’m sure there’s plenty he needs to work on and improve. Let him grow, get bigger, gain more confidence and hopefully win so he learns how. |

Boston seems to manage to get players to sign contracts that are team friendly. KD has to figure a way to convince the top players if they want to win and remain competitive they need to leave something on the table so there are dollars for depth players. |

Hopefully it doesn't blow up like Buffalo. - rpeters01
BUF made the mistake of tearing it down to get McDavid, got Eichel, added a few assets thru the draft then jumped the gun and starting signing free agents too early in the rebuild and floundered. ..... Hired Adams as GM, he tore it down again, moving Eichel, drafted well without jumping the gun and are now ready to be heard for the next 5-6 yrs with a young loaded roster.
Lesson is timing is important in a rebuild. Ending a rebuild and going into win now mode too early and you set a rebuild back a few, or a bunch of, yrs like BUF did. |

I am comfortable with Luke being the decision maker here. There's no reason for the kid to be here next year, unless people who know more than me (that's a big pond, eh?) think it will help his development. I doubt Luke will rush him. |

Those of us who had patience enough to wait from 1961 to 2010 know what it's like to go through false starts and dumps and all the bad stuff.
Nobody knows what it takes to be a perennial Cup contender in this hard cap era.
It would be fantastic if KD cracks the code! |

Always helps to get a discount when signing your own players like TB and BOS has been able to do. I think identifying your better players early and signing them long term when their young before they pop is really helpful constructing a roster and managing the cap.
Some risk though. Sign one or two guys who don't find a ceiling you thought they would and you're saddled or have to add sweetners/assets to off load the contract. |

The Blackhawks were in the Stanley Cup finals five times between 1961 and 2010. No, they didn't win but it is not like the team was crap between those years. In 1992, they lost each game by one goal. |

Thanks Rico. Forgot about Kaiser. Definitely time to start the 200 NHL game or whatever clock on some of these younger D to get the necessary big league experience. Have to determine who will or won't be part of the team long term.
Edit - Don't rush Korchinski. I would like to see all of Vlasic, Phillips, Kaiser and Del Mastro get at least 40 games in next year. |

There might not be a way but extending the winning window may be the best a GM can do.... Following a club that wins, cap hell, rebuild, wash rinse repeat sucks. Hawks fans got the enjoyment of winning cups before a big down turn, most fans didn't yet still get the downturn era. |

I have always, always, always dreamed big when it comes to Blackhawks hockey. I would love to see the Blackhawks overtake the Canadiens in Stanley Cups won in my remaining years.

I guess Bedards's development will be job 1 for the organIzation but he's going straight to the NHL whereas Korchinski is coming thru the pipeline. His developmental path is crucial.
Gonna trust the Hawks on this one but I'm in your camp. Let the kid come along slowly without being overwhelmed and let his play tell you where he belongs and when. |

Oh for Al Secord and Terry O’Reilly! No doubt on the bolded, but this could happen next year as well, at this point they need to draft BPA. - Angotti
True but this draft is loaded with forwards and centers. The D-men class isn't 1st round strong. Wanna grab one or 2 in the 2nd? have at it.
Next rear's draft is much deeper for D-men with 1st Rd quality.

Well, Seattle did win the WHL and he was a part of the reason.
As for the rest, I agree. The kid will barely be 19 at the start of next season. Give him a taste so he can understand the jump and go back to juniors to work on his game. |

Canucks could trade down. But then it won’t be to include a forward like Garland and Boeser to get a second. They would include Myers though.
The thing is Canucks need to solve the 3C and add a top four D and hawks not good trade partner for that. - Quinn's Quest
Good luck with that. |

What's worse is when a top guy(s) get full value of their skills it leaves middle/bottom 6 guys to fight for what's left and end up being under paid. |

I am curious to see how this all works out. I imagine if they draft well we will start seeing KD draft picks start to trickle into the NHL next season or the season after.
Right now the Bowman picks are beginning too emerge. As i said before with Bowman being so wrong on so many dmen maybe he actually had learned from his mistakes and we have a couple top 4 dmen.
I imagine the dream is to draft another core, and continually draft and develop prospects to fill in as role players.
I think about players like Danault, Hartman, Forsling and I'm sure there's others I'm forgetting but how useful they would of been later on for us.
The hardest part is as the core is aging replacing them, to be able to draft that well that when they reach that 7th 8th year of their contract you have a player good enough to fill their shoes.
Just curious has a NHL team ever been this aggressive in a rebuild? I really can't think of one.
Next 3 years
6 first round picks
8 second round picks
5 third round picks
Last year

It's gonna be interesting |

Eddie kind of going off on the Hurricanes about not bringing anyone in who can score. If you can't score you can't win that's just a fact, hahaha. |
