So what is your Trade Package you are willing to give up for Hellebuyck. With a Extension and one without ?
All this premenstrual crap is boring!!

Adams loves everyone. If there were pressure to win this year, you'd have to consider it. There's not, so obviously not happening.

I think your underestimating Levi's ability.

Maybe I'm overestimating his ability.

He's the starter IMO.

Like josh allen, I doubt they make him compete even for starts. Maybe foolish, but he's their guy.

Bring in someone friendly to golf with in the summer as a back up. (Kidding)

He's a good prospect. UPL was too. You just never know, especially with goalies.

We're talking about Hellebuyck, he's great today.

I’m happy for both Reinhart and Eichel.

Took so much crap while they played here despite not being problems.

Good for them

This is crazy, 6-0 in OT. Lost game 1 in Boston....haven’t lost a road game since. Only 2-3 on home ice.

I like Hellebuyck, he's a little nuts. But most good goalie's are. But unless I knew he was willing to sign a extension I personally wouldn't bother unless the cost was cheap. There's decent options in FA and Adams didn't get on his knees to get Levi signed for nothing. I would like Hellebuyck, but is he willing to extend for a couple years.

Intelligent post. I don't like the idea of a high priced rental either.

Now, why would CH sign a 2-3yr extension with us when he could get 5-6 at least as a UFA? Ponder that and the waters muddy.

What a season, what a climb. I'm glad the two game top line stint was mentioned, I really think he flashed his potential there. Jack always seemed to stumble in his first year at a new level. It's like he has to acclimate before his game can really show itself. As was mentioned in the article, after the All Star break the kid really looked the part.

The NHL is different than a starting QB in the NFL. NHL season has 82 games and nfl has 17

Starting goalies play 50-60 games and the backups play the rest

So even if they bring in hellybuck and he plays 50 games and Levi gets 30. That’s still a lot for a rookie goalie.

Like I got harassed about before. Goalies don’t normally transition from college directly to the nhl. He will still have growing pains

It’s not a failure if levi plays 30 - 35 games next year.

I don't think playing 50gms would be difficult for Levi, he's probably close to that this year if you put everything together. Think it's more the compact Schedule in the NHL for him right know. Won't get 4 days off between a back to backs anymore. Your not just playing on the weekends anymore or maybe 1 day during the week.

Helly is a terrific goalie and would be a huge uprade in goaltending and playoff probability.
His contract status could not be worse for this team though.
Trading assets for a 1 year rental, no thanks.
Extending him for say 5x$9m, no thanks.

Will he want a 1 or 2 year extention? IMO, no. Why would he?
Would Winnipeg trade a top G for bits and pieces? IMO, no. Why would they?
Should the Sabres trade assets for 1 year? IMO, no. Dumb move in view of other options.

It would be a different story if there wasn't some half way decent goalie's available in FA. Concentrate on that Dman and if something decent that doesn't kill you with Hellebuyck on the trade front comes up. Then maybe that 1yr doesn't hurt you.

Would you consider an offer sheet for Evan Bouchard?

For the right guys, I would absolutely OS them...realizing the win percentage isn't very good unless the current team is up against it.

The Oilers are up against it with $77.5 m Cap Hit for players. Leaves only $6m, unless they acquire a LTIR contract.

I am assuming Bouchard's contract value for 7,8 years is somewhere around $5.5m - $6.5m.
Pure guess on my part. I assume if the OS was in that range, the Oliers match it.
But it would hurt to do so as they would need to jettison some players for lower cost alternatives. They would have some work to do this offseason and next to retain those younger players they have coming off ELC's....so, they may decide to walk away and take the picks.

O/S of ~$6.5m returns '24 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Hopefully, those are all mid-twenties picks to make it less painful to the Sabres.
If they did $5.75m say, the competition is only a 1st and 3rd, Oilers absolutely match it.

Couple really good points 👍

Certain players " buck the trend".

Most 18 year olds don't start playing their draft season in the nhl, but the top elite players do.
McDavid, eichel, matthews.....

We have a top elite player in levi IMO.

Nobody is saying 82 starts, I'm saying 55-60 though....
