When he asked the picks if they wanted to be in Buffalo they didn’t respond so he gambled:

I'm sure you strut around the big Apple with your Sabres gear. You get that call from the Ranger lovin' buddies , when your hometown sabres come to town.

I like it him too, but Swayman's first 3 years will be tough to match.

I wasn't really comparing them. The data just doesn't exist. It will be interesting to see how Levi handles slumps which will definitely happen at some point.

It's also unfair to compare a guy on a stable, perennial contender to a guy on the Sabres.

It's a long summer, let's risk being a little unfair.

Are you hoping the back up gies better then 17 - 11 - 4

I'd take that from our back up goalie next season.

KA is thinking the same thing 😉

- Boss34

Definitely. And I think Levi would put up much better numbers behind Hellebuyck.

Murray's skating will always hold him back.

Rosen though, looking like a sure fire nhl prospect

Maybe take your head out of your ass and take a look at really what's happening in Sabres land....

Murray's skating is going to hold him back, but Slopokso 's parking lane speed is fine to re-up at 3 x $5m

Pretty sure no one has okposo at 3 years or 5 million.

I could pass on okposo. He definitely slowed.

MItts I have at 5/6 years close to 30/35 million

Boss loves his records.

Anderson went from 17-12-2 to 11-11-2 despite playing better. UPL went from 2-5-2 to 17-11-4 while playing worse.

When they needed them the most last year, both were bad and Comrie was putting up the wins.

I truly appreciate your side, and absolutely agree. 🤝

I like the trade package as well.

I just believe the Sabres think they have McDavid in net. They are giddy with levi.

I think they make this 1st round pick with this management team in place for a final season. I could see adding a pick or 2 with joker or olofsson at the draft as well.

I'm all for a vet goalie as well.

Comrie and UPL were essentially unplayable. Meatballs rode a 21-year-old when the season was on the line. I don't see how they can go into next year with any combination of those three. It would be a disservice to the rest of the team.

I've always kinda liked upl. He's still young. Goalies bloom late and the organization has put a lot of time and energy into upl.

What would you expect to change in regards to his record?

Assuming more losses?

Upl was essentially a rookie last season.

He should get better on paper right?
With age and some experience?

Our defense and system may have lead to his statistical flaws.

Sometimes winning is winning. Sometimes it doesn't matter either.

Novikov is 6-foot-4 and has a left-handed shot. Played 94 games in the KHL and his contract there expired May 1. Fell to the sixth round in 2021 because teams had concerns he’s eventually sign.

Revolutionary gamble imo

You could pair UPL or Comrie with Hellebuyck and be fine. Pairing them with Levi is very risky. Too many ways that could go off the rails and sunk cost is terrible rationale.

Sabres will need to a PR team working OT this summer to spin UPL as the ideal mentor for Levi, coming off of Anderson.

I have to step in here because you're obnoxious. The accomplishment has never been missing out on the playoffs by 1 point....Its the fact we were so much closer than anyone projected us to be...even with poor goaltending. But haters gonna hate. If you're not excited then find a different team.

There’s people turning their nose up at Connor freaking Hellebyuck, who’s been a top 3-5 goalie for 5-6 years now because Devon Levi was good for 5/7 games.

They don’t actually want any expectations of winning. They just want to be able to say there’s a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow

- sbroads24

There's people who aren't excited about trading a bevy of picks and prospects for 1 (one) year of a top 5 Goalie.
What about year 2, 3, 4...
Don't come at me with some projection of greatness from a prospect.
You eliminated that point from discussion.

An extension would have to be in place to make that trade.

I agree about Hellebuyck, but fine with 6K backing up Levi. Actually hoping for it and they can spend money elsewhere. Levi seems pretty confident. His mentor can be Anderson in some form or fashion. 6K can make big saves at big times in big games. That’s good enough for me. Sabres score more in front of him too.

Now you're making me look up UPL splits.

Feb: 2-3-0 .858 5.03
Mar: 1-3-2 .879 3.88

If he played better down the stretch, I'd probably view it differently.

Who has said we should trade a “bevy” of picks.

It’s been like 2nd and a non top prospect.

He’s not getting a massive package in return.
Rental
Goalie
Large cap hit

That’s 3 strikes.
