I can't believe there are actually rumors around about Mike Sullivan going to the Rangers to coach... does that make any sense at all?

What are everyone's thoughts on Guentzel? What does his next contract look like, should we trade him rather than signing him to a monster deal? Obviously still a very productive player... is he worth $9M for the next 8 years? I think that is what he will want and I'm not sure I like it.

Wow Coyotes look to be done in Arizona. They had 3 resolutions that were struck down tonight via public vote. It was reported the Coyotes barely spent anything in positive PR to generate support for the resolutions.

This is an honest question, because I really don't know, but what other major US cities are ready for a team to move in, in a year? I would imagine there's at least a few.

Depends on how bad a city wants a team but I feel like OKC makes a ton of sense considering they could stay in the west and they would only be competing with the Thunder pro sports wise. Seems a lot of people think Houston is a big possibility.

I wonder if the Thrashers would work now a days. Atlanta is a huge market and hockey is a lot more accessible than it used to be.

There’s a ton of Canadians in Houston. They’d love a team. I think slc would be a good choice as well.

Pass on Quebec. They’ll sell tickets but a team needs corporate sponsors. Tickets are a small price of the revenue pie. I read a while back the jets need to make the playoffs regularly or they’ll be toast.

Atl never developed a grass roots movement. There are only like 2 rinks for youth hockey in a city of 6 + mil. When I lived there beer league was impossible.

Darche or Tulsky would be interesting. I can't even fathom Chayka being in the mix.... how could anyone actually consider him an option. Never did anything positive in Arizona and seems like an absolute dirtbag.

Texas seems like a good market, I could see them supporting another hockey team there. Quebec is the easy button to hit where there is already a stadium built and they would definitely have the fan base. That said, I can't imagine anyone bidding on the Sens would be happy about another team in that region and frankly, there is no comparison between the economic opportunity in Quebec vs Texas.

Yeah they’re terribly run and maybe if they were better ran maybe the locals wouldn’t hate them but it can’t be ignored that the local population has been actively trying to run them out for years. If the local politics keep striking down new stadiums, it’s time to move on.

EDIT: actually just realized these plans were tax payer funded and that’s why they keep getting blocked. That’s reasonable. Part of owning a sports franchise is paying for the stadiums.

No reason they shouldn’t be sharing an arena with the suns. Poorly run org. Bad local politics. All of it. The team sucking just adds fuel to the fire. From my experience I moved to Tampa stamkos rookie year when they absolutely sucked. Could walk up 15 mins before the game and get lower bowl tickets for $20. They get bought by a top tier owner and have on ice success and now they’re the most popular team in town and everyone is a hockey fan. Most failing orgs are because they are run by a bunch of rich dudes that don’t know how to run a pro sports org.

Seems like a lot of insiders are saying the first course of action will be for the NHL/Coyotes to engage with the new Suns owner. The problem with that is that it takes a lot of renovation money to get the arena up to par. No idea if the Suns will go for that.

Seems like the location most talked about would be Salt Lake City. I like SLC, good idea to pursue a city without too much sports concentration.
