reading between the lines I guess you're expecting Primeau to get traded..? not sure what kind of return the habs would get, probably not much unfortunately. kinda sucks if that happened because the habs did invest development time in him, but it is what it is I guess.
- Pat1993

a very late pick or a project

they could lose him for nothing on waivers, so they might as well try to get something if they can

At this point, he's not the centrepiece of a trade, he's an addon.

I do expect him to get traded because Hughes won't like the idea of losing him for nothing.

Because yes, he'd probably be picked off on waivers.

oh I know, after all this time it would just be nice though if he stayed with the habs and at least became a reliable backup for them. then again goalies tend to accept the backup role a bit later in their career, not playing regularly and still being able to remain consistent usually requires experience.

I honestly don't know. He'd need to convince management he's the better option over keeping Allen.

Sounds like a tall order for him.

I fully expect him or Allen to get traded this summer.

- Scabeh

I'd rather keep Allen to be honest ... I've never been impressed by Primeau.

Me too.

Habs had plenty of problems last year, goaltenders were not one of them.

Montembault is our guy next year anyway.

- fidopro

It's going to be poop show in Toronto this weekend for sure ... grab some popcorn. The locals will be out in the streets with pitchforks and the media will go ballistic.

Stay safe in TO!

really?
I expect them to start next season with Monty and Allen, but to split the workload a bit more 50-50.

Agreed, we can't complain about our goalies ... Monty did a good job behind a rookie defense. I trust him.

Allen has 0 value, tks to his new contract extention that to this day I don't understand.
Primeau doesn't have any value either. former 7th round pick, didn't play that many games the past 3 years... I'd be surprised if he gets claimed.

Rome wasn't built in a day, as long as we keep improving year over year then I'm content.

Our time will come eventually, no need to rush.

bah, personally I never understood why people felt his contract is such a repellent for other teams, it's not like he was a cap hit anchor or anything, and given how decent goaltending has become more of a rarity in recent years, there very well might be some interest for him.

I just want to see what this group can do if everyone remains healthy, I'm very curious to know what they could accomplish at this stage.

Yeah, injuries have been awful the last 2 years.
I also think we're better than where we finished in the standings but proof is in the pudding. We still have some useless passengers to shed.

Are we a playoff team? ... not yet in my opinion but as long as we're getting closer then I'm all in for the ride.

After years of having a management team solely concentrated on us playing around our freakin' goalie, I'm hopeful that HuGo will bring us to the promised land with a more modern approach. I finally see light at the end of the tunnel.

I look at Matthews and he is not showing any emotion…. He seems so bored…

I think that was his last game in a Leafs jersey.

It is just nice to be able to talk about having real prospects, rather than hanging all our hopes on that guy they drafted will be good enough to play a few years on the 4th line.

So, for me, that is worth all the time they need to get this right.

Does not mean they win a cup in the end (lots of great teams never did), but at least have a team that has a real good chance to get one.
