Well when you're old like me time flies. LOL.

Over on the Buffalo board, some fans want to trade their first (no. 13) to get a needed position player. They figure they have 3 2nds to add to their prospect pool. So what does KD have to offer to exchange 1sts or get that pick outright. Sabres want a veteran RD. Hmm.

Also, read that game 7 of the finals is scheduled for June 18. There should be some moves made by some teams beginning shortly afterwards, as they reshape their rosters leading up to the draft and free agency.

I’d trade Murphy for #13 in a heartbeat. But KD would need to stock up on his Connor quota by signing Connor McClennon.

Connor Garland, Vancouver cap dump.

Try to get Buffalo 13th for Murphy plus.
Get VAN 11th & Garland for 19th plus.

Can we dream about Chicago with 1, 11 and 13!

Ek says Nylander out in Toronto (so of course he's staying) but assuming true, would you make that trade with 1 year left? He could definitely keep up with Bedard.

what would you give up? Murphy and #44?

It will be interesting for sure, last year we ended up with 3 first round picks, and had none the week before the draft.

I also have to say the way everything turned out we actually won the Seth Jones trade.

- BetweenTheDots

A little early to determine that, but it could definitely end up that way. The drawback is the AAV, $9.5M should have been $7.5M.

The issue is that Nylander is basically a rental, he’ll be a UFA next year.

You need to sign somebody to get to the cap floor. Let Nylander play 60 games to make Bedard's life a little easier, then trade him at the deadline for a 2nd and a prospect.

Murphy is sometimes persona non grata around here, but how do actual NHL GMs value him ?

To me, Buffalo won't accept Murphy alone for the 13th. On the other hand, to me, Murphy and 19 is too much for 13.

Need to find something in the middle. Hawks add a 2nd to Murphy for 13, or Buffalo adds a 2nd with their 13 for Murphy and 19.

Just a whole lot of conjecture on my part.

- boilermaker100

I would say that NHL GM’s value Murphy a lot higher than the BOD, so I very much agree with your post.

You make a good point, but it would depend on what the Hawks have to give up.

Is not Toronto in cap hell? Therefore, shouldn't they be giving us value to take him off their hands?

Well ya, you think Nylander for Murphy and the 44th is an even trade to begin with? I thought it was tremendously tilted towards Blackhawks and cap hell is what would make them have to think about it.

True but you probably can flip him for another 1st next year.

I'm far from a Murphy hater but IM you are grossly overvaluing Murphy. He's 3rd pairing Dman.

IMO Hawks would be elated to move the 19th and Murphy for the 13th overall. At 30 yrs old Murphy has 3 yrs left at 4.4 mil per. Yes he's a RD but way too much for a 3rd pairing guy for 1 yr let alone 3 and at 30 yrs old...... I'm sure quite a few playoff clubs were looking for a RD and never a peep from anywhere anyone was interested in Murphy.

Since BUF is way short on RD maybe KD can squeeze a 3rd rd pick out of them too but the chance to jump up to 13 is awfully appealing.

It's all good for me, the deal set off a chain of events that led to Bedard.

There's not one player on our team added to 19 who could get us 13.

I’m sure KD will try to move up higher in the draft. I think the only assets he has to work with is #19 and all his 2nd and 3rd round picks. But how much can that buy him. I think at best KD could convert #19+ into #15. Realistically I think he could move up to #17.

Since you are not offering Seth Jones' giant salary, I think Murphy and 19 works for me, but prefer to have another selection between #1 and #19.

Buffalo has 8 picks this year and two #2's so I don't know if picks in the 2nd round fl"cut it" for the Sabres.

I think jhawk was asking about Roos recently? Maybe I'm wrong. Anyway here's a link to an article at SecondCityHockey written by L_B_R about him.

A lot of fancy stats based on a small sample size (only played in 17 NHL games) but he's basically no worse or no better that most of the other Hawks D from last year.

He's has one more year left on his ELC than will be a RFA. I can see him along with Vlasic, Phillips and Wyatt being rotated among the open D spots. Have them play some games, receive tutelage from Richardson and Dean while up with the club, then back to Rockford to work on their games.

Thanks boilermaker100 for mentioning Roos & the link too. I agree with your analysis on Roos future.

I have to say how grateful we shall be not only with Bedard but with the #19 or higher ‘23 first round additions. Two top talented players are going to headline our evolving new cast. Which is ahead of schedule in the rebuild. One more rough season then some of the dmen prospects ought to start making a difference. I am not sold on rapid progression among the kids in net but I especially want to see and learn more about Stauber’s past. Might he be as good or better than the other two kids? With Comesso and Soderstrom there are things they need to work on but as for Stauber I just don’t know what his development looks like. We know it will be a challenge for each to receive enough playing time for development next season.

Well it is going to be real interesting what KD does with all the transactions ahead…….which figure ti be many, indeed.

The logic would be as you surmise: The #13 overall is desirable by other teams who may offer better renumeration for the plum selection.

Well as I was guessing Edmonton and Toronto both bites the dust in the second round. I still believe that Dallas will win out over the Kraken. The Kraken is much better than I had thought nonetheless if they beat Dallas it can be considered an upset

If murphy is so bad, why would someone give up even a first rounder for him? In my opinion you would be lucky to get a third round pick

Prediction
2 of Hawks top six forwards picked are under 6' (Bedard being one)
2 are 6'
2 are over 6'2

So 4 of the top 6 will have some size. Forward size will be important in this draft for the Hawks.
