Any chance Bedard pulls a Lindros?
Maybe his parents don't want him going to Chicago because of the whole Kyle Beach thing. He was also from Vancouver from what I remember.

I grew up in the city and all we ate was thin crust from mom and pops pizza joints. My wife grew up in the suburbs and loves deep dish. I haven’t met anyone from the city that prefers deep dish over thin crust. When we fly home I go directly from O’Hare to my favorite mom and pop, pizza in Florida sucks. Back to hockey, can’t wait to see what KD does on 6/28. Go Hawks!

When we visit Chicago my favourite thing to get is the Italian beef.

Now that Bedard is all but selected does KD have the balls to see if he can pry the number two pick away from the Ducks? Would they have interest in a package of first and second picks?

Here is what I would do which will be anathema to most of the board:

Screw helping teams out by taking on bad contracts, instead:
If Timo Meier does not sign with New Jersey, offer him 7 x 9 (that knocks out a big population of teams that cannot afford him).. he speaks German, so the Hawks have a line of Kurashev - Reichel - Meier. When the Hawks are good in 4 years, Meier will be only 30 years old.

Sign Domi for 3 years x 5. Your second line is Domi-Bedard-Raddish. 2 guys who have scoring ability, but are willing to go in the corners to fetch the puck for Bedard.

I like this as you have another line that the opposition has to watch out for besides Bedard, and you have some grit on his line to go fetch him the puck, and have some scoring ability, so you are not totally wasting Bedard's talent.

Then you wait and fill as the youngsters mature.

Anything is possible, but I think that the team would be exploring that possibility and determine that from interviewing him before the draft. Personally, and just IMO I don't think the Beach situation from 2010 plays into it.

Some good ideas. And in four years hopefully the prospects have proven to be NHL ready.

I like stuffed pizza way more than deep dish but even still, I only do stuffed about 1-2 times a year. Thin is where it's at!

If he would be concerned about the Beach situation, why did he play in the WJC for Canada?

I woke up this morning to a bunch of people celebrating the #1 pick and landing Bedard.
Just thought it would suck for those people to be let down like that :D
Little Bedard was 3-5 years old when the Canucks and Blackhawks hated each other and had the best rivalry in the NHL for those few years. Kinda funny when you think about it

put the beach thing to rest already. like it has any impact on Bedard coming to Chicago. Lindros didn't wanna play in Quebec due to the limited amount of side hustles. Pretty sure Chicago will be driving what Bedard drives here by June 29th!

I read a comment from someone that Bedard brings Toews compete, maturity and leadership and Kane’s compete and skill.

His family went on vacation to Hawaii and he found and played hockey in Hawaii because he wants to keep getting better

Broke his wrist and since it was a growth plate situation practiced one arm wrist shots

Just some of the things I'm hearing, he'll be wearing the C very soon

I guess teams all were excited because he stayed in Regina instead of going somewhere to a better club, i don't think this will be an issue at all. At least that's the other thing i heard.

So to get Montreal's #5, would they take Colton Dach to play with his brother?

I like your thinking, my only caveat is that Reichel has been a left wing for this last season. Maybe put Domi in that center spot.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this but another benefit of winning the lottery with a clear 1st selection (and especially with so many picks in the top 60) is the amount of research and hours it frees your staff to deep dive options for the lower picks.
- Revco38

Q: Are Ricochet & I staff yet?

Imagine if they were drafting #4 or #5 the amount of energy and time working through different scenarios, deciding if Michkov (sp) is worth the risk, if they should go the safe route, if Smith will have the same results in the nhl? All of that time and research and discussions now be reallocated to the #19 pick (speak it into being) as well as the 2nd rounders, and deciding if the opportunity arises what to pay to move up. Dividends all around.
- Revco38

From a scouting perspective, bexcept for the Russian factor, I am certainty hawks have a prospect list by BPA, but for me, it is a big relief that we got the ONLY guy whose attributes are very clear.

If you or the draftniks think they can predict the upside of everyone else over everyone else, you may be disappointed, not but the player you added final value to your team, but disappointed by the guy not filling the hype of their projection.

I am very comfortable with my projection.

It is like the korchinshi to the bigs this year talk.
I don't care who writes it, that is something only the prospect can control, and what we all thin k of his WHL showings is nit enough of a factor to make him a NHL pro defender w/o playing first.

My biggest fear that the low bust factors (bust as in ONLY being a good nHL player, not an elite) of an Fantilli, Carlsson, and all others happens, and they simply are nowhere near the results that OTHER guys in this draft reach.

Picking beard releases any of that, because he has no ticks and with his work habits will have him working on everything that continues to make him the real deal he is....

Louie, same goes for my wife and me!

thin crust always rules and deep dish at Uno Duos and Pipers alley La Piaza were novelties.

I take Home run inn cheese pizzas and doctor them at home, as my intoduction to Florida pizza was a sausage pizza that was breakfast sausage.

Not bad Mohel, still celebrating mediocrity every post season! Good for you guys though! Bedard should more than make up for Kaner and Toews.

Here in California you have to get used to fresh ingredients (Arugula/Fennel/Basil) Omelettes are different too, with fresh ingredients on top not gadempte in the middle.

The NHL draft is totally rigged, and I will gladly turn a blind eye, because at least they know where the most important market is! LFG!

Every year someone is in the room with the actual lotto drawing and watches the search through the books of number designbtions to find the matching winner.

It has been done this way after everyone clamored there was conspiracy in the Crosby pick that was not monitored.
