Does a 2c have more value than a 3RD though?
- Retinalz

I haven't ever seen a scout call a player a 2lc. I've seen 2nd line upside, which they would call a middle 6 center.

Top line center
Top 6 center
middle 6 center

I'd take a top 6 center meaning 2nd line but potential to be top line center over a #3 D but not over a middle 6 center who is most likely a 3lc with the potential to be a 2nd line center.

Yup, question is who and will he be available?

Allvin said the other day he prefers the BPA route.

In either event I'm not optimistic for a blue chip prospect.

There's always the guys that drop. Seeing how VAN isn't destined to win a draft lottery, how about letting another great player like QH falls to them again?

ASP

If Yager is there, I'd say yes ahead of ASP.

Only takes 1 team to mess poop up but from all the anonymous scout talk I've heard, sounds as it's Barlow, Yager, ASP, Dvorsky and obviously Stenberg because of being a Swede are best of what would be possibly slip and or be good value at 11.

Moore, Danielson, Wood seem to be just on the outside of good value at 11.

TBH I don't know who half these guys are, I'll have to do some reading.

I usually go with Bob's and mix it with central scouting as a baseline.

@Mini, maybe your guy might be available?

Good Canadian boy which is unusual for VAN.

Knowing Van's scouts, it's going to be someone who is able to "score". Yager is known for his shot. So is Barlow.

It's possible, he was thought of a top 5 pick to start the season but some inconsistent play knocked him down it seems. I think there is still lots of upside there though.

The fact he's a C, he'd be a good pickup if available. There will be couple of surprises though.

Yager, Bensen, Cristall or Heidt should be available. I think one of them would be the best available.

I saw an article today saying that Sandin-Pellika? I think that’s his name… is the most likely to but in the top 20, Canucks will probably pick him since our scouts and drafting are the worst in the league.

As I said he fits the bill for lot of things that we know Canucks scouts are after with their first round pick.

Take EP & QH out and you have...

Since 2013; Demko, Boeser, McCann, Forsling, Horvat

So yes, one would think you'd have more hits in a decade.

Then from 2006 to 2012 you had Michael Grabner, the rest were all trash.

Danielson looks like a good prospect. Take him at 11 or trade down?

NHL teams are expected to get 1 good NHLer and 1 depth player per draft basically. So to get 7 good players from 5 drafts and 2 depth players (gaudette, Virtanen... yes both played 200 games consider a draft win). Is maybe slightly above the avg.

It’s not the same for the bottom 16 teams as it is for the top 16 teams. You’ve done extremely well if you pick two kids who make the NHL full time.

Honzek is projected as a winger and not a center though. At 11 it really is a massive toss up.

Danielson, Yager, Honzek, Heidt, ASP, Reinbacher, Dvorsky, Moore, Barlow, Sale, Wood have all been in and around 11th spot in this draft.

One scout said that ASP and Reinbacher don't project as a top line defenders but ASP shows as a #3 defender and same with Reinbacher.

You would most likely take a top 6 center over a #3 defender but not a middle 6 center.

- manvanfan

Totally agree on the last paragraph.
Top 6 C at 11th is pushing it. Safest pick is still Reinbacher if there. I still can see a trade down or up in the cards. Down preferred.

11oa/Garland for from who?

Wouldn’t be the worst pick…

https://thehockeywriters....3-nhl-mock-draft-lottery/

Makes Gavrikov even more needed.

Hughes Hronek
Gavrikov ASP
OEL Myers

3rd pair needs future size & mean

For me it's Reinbacher or trade the pick, you can maybe get your 3LC or a D or else dump a bad contract with it (like a Garland, Boeser, etc) and maybe get a 2nd rounder back to help restock the cupboards.
