Closer to northern pike than walleye IMO. Walleye is much sweeter and flakier. About the closest thing you get to walleye is yellow perch which is probably even sweeter?

I’m aware, it’s in all the grocery stores here because we’re so close to the Sea of Cortez. It’s a sh!t fish. Puerto Peñasco (Rocky Point) is only a three hours drive from here.

Yellow Perch is good but you gotta catch 40 of them to get a meal.

Yeah I've eaten it rarely for that reason.

We used to have walleye about once a week when I was younger though.

I've had Mudcat and Channel Cat. I think I'll stick with fresh Ling Cod or Halibut for the white meat portion of my fish intake. Enjoy your Catfish though.

It’s so good! Walleye. Used to get it at the Granville Island fish market in Vancouver. They’d fly it in fresh from Manitoba.

It may have been sauger.

I used to catch it all the time. There are still many hardly touched lakes up north in Ontario but it was much better before ATV's were around.

Gary Mason: I think the biggest mistake Francesco has made during his time as the owner was with Benning. We've had conversations about this over lunch and he totally agrees that he left Benning in that position far too long and that's come back to bite him in the ass.

Mason: I think the other thing that is sort of a X factor in this is I do know Benning had very good relationship with Luigi Aquilini. Luigi loved him.

Gary Mason on why Aquilini left Benning in charge for so long:

Benning was always able persuade Francesco that they were one big move away from this becoming something.

Gary Mason on Aquilini:

He has so much respect for Rutherford. He's hands off and he's letting Rutherford run the show. Whatever Rutherford decides is going to be the way they go.

Gary Mason on if ownership would buyout OEL:

"I don't think they would do it at this point. I just don't. I think they want to give these coaches a chance with him...see if they can salvage him in some way..."
